Ok, might extend the deadline a bit. I was expecting the new version of Spring sometime this week, but understandably they're having quite a few bumps in the road to release... I don't know how long they'll be, but AA 2.2 won't work properly with versions of Spring prior to .73, so I won't be releasing it before .73...

I'm tired so my grammar sucks, whatever.

Since .73 won't be released, AA won't be released, and this mod pack won't be released. And yes, I'm planning to make AA 2.2 solely available in this pack, at least initially.

Maybe after 2 weeks, or 3 weeks, or whatever seems like a good number, the mods in this pack can be distributed seperately. But before then, I think it would be best if we made our mods only available in pack form.

I'm willing to let EE in, 14 MB isn't so bad. Most who play Spring have broadband connections, and I've got SourceForge's superfast servers on my side.

I did this entirely because i was bored, its only 26kb, and can be included into the next AA version extremly easily, http://www.fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=3810
but it isnt that good, but then again anything 26kb, isnt usually good.

*phew*, I was worried you were going to try to release before .73

I've got a 1944 demo nearly good to go, at 4.17 mb. Of course, its using the old content, and only two sides to save space, and infantry and a few light vehicles only...but hey, its a demo, what do you expect :P

I dont think the next version of EE is going to be likely ready for inclusion in a package, as I am redoing all of the models in EE.. and I will be making some hefty balance alterations with the release of the new spring version.. I dont want to be put on someone elses deadline..

If the newer verison of E&E is not ready by the time of the next AA release, what about including version .163 or atleast a version .163 with some minor balance modifications? It is still a great mod even without the sexi new models.

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes. The purpose here is to encourage people to try new mods, including EE. If you want, 1.63, or some half-way version you make just for this pack, can be included. That's 10,000 guaranteed downloads just for people wanting the new version of AA, let alone everyone who wants Nanoblobs, 1944, and any other mods that are included.

I don't think he's looking for downloads; He's looking for players.

Edit: Fang, I mean.

Anyone interested in having their mods published in a group including AA should PM me please... I'm losing track of who wants to be in and who doesn't.

Time's up. If this idea is going to fly, I need completed mods asap. Within and hour kind of ASAP. (well maybe not quite that bad)

Combat Constructors, where all builders have lots of nuc!
How about bundling the infantry demo of 1944? Should be finished IIRC.

edit: Looks like this was suggested. Can't be arsed to read all that stuff :P

BTW that number is hardcore exaggerated. With the upgrade system implemented at FU, it does not restart the counter at 0 when you update a file (in particular the $variable that the database looks for). That counter is including all the AA releases since the upgrade system was introduced... Which was a really really long time ago.

Yeah, we've had upwards of "5,000" downloads of SWS, including FU and Moddb; and you're lucky to see a game or two a day of it.

Hopefully that will change once we get our new pack rolled out, but we'd like to release and run our mod on it's own two feet. Plus, we'd never get it under 5meg.

Uh, yeah, except... I'm not even putting FU downloads into that equation. AA 2.11 isn't even found there...

If you're interested, I also had them reset the number at 2.0's release so I could get an accurate count. I got about 8,000 downloads there on that version alone IIRC.

The statistics I was talking about are reported here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=166987

And thanks for giving me the chance to update my figures: AA 2.11 has been downloaded, to date, a minimum of 17,298 times. Assume there were 3,000 through other sources (far less than a realistic estimate), and it's been downloaded at least 20,000.

Forboding, when you have a mod, feel free to post here if you want it in the mod pack.

Onboard so far:
1944
2 AA variants, a third I'm waiting on hearing
Nanoblobs (Argh is currently testing to see if inclusion in the pack will cause a different CRC of the archive, which it won't, otherwise he showed interest in it being included)
Eternal Struggle

Fanger does not have a version of EE he's comfortable with me including because he's in the middle of a long process of improvements.

BTW, the mod limit isn't 5 mb anymore, it can be pretty much anything. If you want any version of SWS included, I'd be happy to do so. Just as long as, compressed, it's less than 20 or so. I'm shooting for a total archive size of no more than 50 MB, basically. Anyone with a broadband connection can have that in about 3 minutes if they find a good mirror, so it doesn't seem too inconvenient. Dialup users... eh.. I think we did a poll and found about 2% of posters used dialup. Gotta cater to the masses sometimes.

Good list so far! I've tested 1944 and it is a fun mod. Although this is still kinda depressing since the one avenue that could expand the number of e&e users isn't being utilized.

I agree. I'd like to see EE in here too, but he says he doesn't have a version for me. I don't see why he doesn't ask me to put the currently released version in though, I mean, it's pretty enjoyed among the people who have tried it.

Also, add Battletech to the list, Archangel just told me he's got something to put in. :-)
