Want your mod included with AA?
2.2 is going to be a very big, important release of AA. The filesize is smaller than ever, and I was just told an interesting idea in order to get players to diversify a bit.
Why not distribute a couple of other mods with AA's next version? As long as they're not more than 5 MB or so, I would be willing to package as many as three with this next version.
This is probably a one-time opportunity, an experiment that I'm only willing to try once for the forseeable future. Future versions of AA will not include any other mods.
As the lead developer of a mod, this could be an opportunity to expand your player base. Getting players to diversify is something I've been trying to do for a while now, and this seems like it might do the trick, or at least take away any excuse not to try other mods.
I estimate somewhere in the range of 15,000 downloads for 2.2, based on the fact that 2.11 has been downloaded 14189 times from Sourceforge alone as of this moment. (patch and full added together)

LOL!
just thought of the funniest thing you should do Caydr.
Get a bunch of playable mods, whack them in with AA
then have the AA 2.2 mod thing, changed to a ?. Basically have some random number generator get a number and then choose a mod and assign random races to the players
that would be SOOOOO funny and <3
btw: this is actually serious i think that this would be awesome! :D possible problems with maps though :<

Of these, nanoblobs is the one to pick, although its probably going out with the spring installer in the near future, n00berhack was essentially an experiment, and not really meant for distribution with anything.KDR_11k wrote:Looking at my mod folder only Nanoblobz and N00b3rh4ck are small enough to fit that, everything else is upward of 10MB (if we ignore CvC for a moment because I don't think anyone gives a damn about that).
That said, if you really want to, I can fix it up and send it out. It would be rather silly though.
NanoBlobs 0.60 is almost complete. It's 6.7MB in size now that I've added all the sounds to it. I would like it to get in front of as many eyes as possible, mainly because it's a good mod to learn about building things for Spring and contains a lot've commentary/instructions/commented code. So... um... when is the drop-dead date on this, Caydr? I have a bunch of small loose ends and things that need to be documented better here, but it's all small potatoes stuff- everything works just fine right now.
SWS is far from done or really polished yet, and it's kind've... big.
And including the previous version would, imo, just be an insult- it doesn't at all represent where that mod is going now.
Gundam would be cool, but I don't know how much Smoth has polished the current builds- he's been doing other stuff lately, so I don't know how much progress has been made. That said, Gundam's really unique and very cool, and it's pretty much bug-free.

I vote for E&E, for the following reasons:
1) Ppl don't expect the mod, and will likely be first-time players of any other mod than AA. E&E learns quite fast.
2) E&E has the 'feel' ppl expect from a Spring mod.
3) E&E just pwnz
4) E&E deserves some publicity, after all the hard work that has been put unto it
And I vote for including Nanoblobz too, for obvious reasons.
