One of the few TBS games I liked AND finished. The major reason with these TBS games is that they have a beginning and an ending and almost no replay value. Ok ZOE does have multiple endings but it ain't worth replay in my opinion.

I realize RTSs have been on consoles for ages: SimCity, C&C, Dune, blah blah blah. And how many people have you ever heard say "I can't wait to get home and play SimCity on my tv." And I'm sure the RTSs that were ported had to make concessions to gameplay or camera control, etc.

Now, I'll admit, I've heard that Battle for MIddleEarth (by the same ppl making Halo warS?) was an excellent game that worked on the xbox360. I've never seen it even played, so I can't comment. But I wonder which platform people prefered it on - the PC or the xbox?

As a huge Bungie fan back in the (Mac Only) Days, I'm very upset to see all their IP end up exclusively on the xbox, and mowing down their own greatest fans. :(

I understand there was a pretty good TBS game from the guy/company that made X-Com, too. Yeah, Advance Wars is great though, definitely can't argue with that.

But that version was changed from the PC a bit to compenstate. The only RTS's i played on consoles were Starcraft 64  and C&C Dawn on PSX. Both of those were a pain to play with their respective controllers. but meh. I think the reason TBS work so well is that u don't need as fast paced mouse movements to play. With a TBS u don't need twitch reflexes/movements that u would need with an RTS.

All in all im sad to see them makin it Xbox 360 only for now. Im assuming that wiht their current track record they will eventually release it onto PC (esp. if it doesn't sell well on 360). They release Halo 1 and they are gonna release Halo 2 on PC eventually so im quite confident that they will release this one as well.

Can you imagine how successful Halo Wars would be if sold on PC? Unfortunately, every Halo they've realeased for the computer was because of ulterior motives. #1: they wanted to prove they hadn't sold on by realeasing Halo1 to mac/pc like they had promised for years (I consider this an ulterior motive because it was realeased many years late, not done by bungie, and really only marginally good compared to the xbox version, imo). #2: they are trying to give people a reason to buy their brand new shiny OS.

If Halo Wars doesn't feel like Myth I'm gonna be dissapointed. *That's* an incredible RTS (RTT?).

It looks too much like the DOW/COH engine setup to me anyway. I'll look into it via my few and sporadic contacts :P

The current leading console platforms have adequate keyboard and mouse support, but developers and to an extent gamers are still not realizing they even exist for such. By far, this game has the clout to become an easy-hit, and if it provides support for keyboards and mice. We might finally see wider proliferation and ownership of such input devices in the households of console (XBOX 360) gamers.

Also, they could even provide an edition of Halo Wars that could include a keyboard and mouse for an appealing price. I├óÔé¼Ôäóm sure that would get some attention on store shelves. 8)

I can only hope.

I've often wondered why Nintendo doesn't port Metroid Prime to pc. 1, yes it would take one major reason away from buying a gamecube, but 2, it would make people who'd never consider a gamecube, consider it to get MP2! Really, Metroid Prime on windows would be awesome...

It seems only logical from a business standpoint that any time a game is very good and well-received, and it has a sequel that is also well-received and very good, that the first game should immediately be ported to every platform under the sun. But always keep the other consoles/systems one sequel late.

For me at least, if I hadn't had a Gamecube given to me and subsequently discovered how awesome the Metroid series is, if it came to PC, right now I'd be considering buying a gamecube or even wii, just on the basis of that one game. SSBM, too, and a few others would be good to have on PC, no?

you couldn't play Melee on a computer. seriously. don't try. :P

and zelda... that would be interesting on a computer. but much easier than SSBB :P

MP... they could just make that handle a bit more like a fps...

Interview with big, official M$ guys about Halo Wars. *NOT* the answers I would like to hear.

Notables include not confirming the convenant is playable, and saying that RTS is not a very good label for the game.
Phil Spencer, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios Publishing wrote: I also think there├óÔé¼Ôäós an opportunity in the future to play an RTS on Windows with a joypad. There├óÔé¼Ôäós a lot of potential in mapping RTS controls to a joypad.
People wanting to play RTS's on their PC with a gamepad? This guy is nuts. Imo, you're killing too many of the cool things that are found in RTSs when you limit the number of usable buttons, you're forcing the tactics to be too simplistic and the forces themselves to be too easy to control for complicated, sweeping strateigies and manueavres, and you're killing the quick movements and precision a mouse can enjoy over the gamepad.

I'm scared for Halo Wars. Me wants more, excellent RTSs out there and I'm not so sure Halo Wars is what i'm looking for.[/quote]

About the same number I've heard say "I can't wait to get home and play SimCity on my PC." None. People just say "I can't wait to play Sim City".
