SupCom 0

:D
Still, the Supcom nuke is decidedly more convincing than Argh's nuke.

Maybe the flamish/explosionish stuff should stop a little ways before the smoke otherwise...

That video looks quite good, quite good. Now all it needs is a "KABOOOOOUGHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" sound effect and more whitness. Most of the mushroom cloud is white, then orange, then black, then gone...if I remember myself correctly.

c'mon argh, don't make us wait for NB 0.6!

Nah. Some things are worth waiting for, and we don't have very long now, if all goes according to plan.

Besides which, the code that I used to make the video with isn't that much different than what I posted. Really. The results look a lot different, but that's because of really minor stuff.

what, is it just the shrapnel cone and the heatcloud?

and remember, nothing ever goes according to plan... Murphy will get you! :P

The shrapnel cloud was already in the previous version. All I did was a few smallish tweaks, really. Don't worry, you don't have long to wait, even Murphy won't stop the release for very much longer ;)

i think that when it first explodes it needs to be very fast, just for a split second, and then slowly grow massive and die out. It just looks wierd right now at how slow it first expands. go watch any nuke video on google and the ball of fire is formed almost instantly and then expands very slowly upwards.
also need better sound, i now thats been mentioned. great job though, ive been waitng for this for a long time now.

I've decided that AA E shall now get nuke tanks. The one for ARM will be called...the"Argh".

ALL HAIL ARGH, KING OF NUKESPLOSIONS!

I think I got the whole flash thing solved in a reasonably-fast way:

Now... er... not to dampen everybody's enthusiasm too much... but I should say, again, that you will not want to throw this puppy around generically, and quite honestly, I'll be a bit miffed if everybody just copies into their mod without taking due consideration for what is appropriate at a given scale.

If you want it half-sized, for example, you're going to recode just about everything proportionally, but you're also going to want to drop the particle-count so that you can have a bunch on-screen at once without crippling FPS. Doubling it in size will require roughly double the particle-count to look as good it does now. I should note that this is rigged for an explosion of AOE 512, which by OTA standards was quite large. In an Epic-scaled game like NanoBlobs, it dwarfs even the largest units very easily and puts the puny size of things into perspective.

I have one last major area of improvement to embark on, which will make this look much more realistic, but that'll wait for tomorrow night, because quite frankly I'm too tired right now.

512 was an OTA nuke. AA uses 1280 and 1920 size nukes AFAIK.

So long, Mom, I'm off to drop the bomb
So don't wait up for me
But while you swelter down there in your shelter
You can see me on your TV

While we're attacking frontally
Watch Brinkally and Huntally
Describing contrapuntally
The cities we have lost
No need for you to miss a minute
Of the agonizing holocaust, yeah

Little Johnny Jones he was a U.S. pilot
And no shrinking vi'let was he
He was mighty proud when World War Three was declared
He wasn't scared, no siree!
And this is what he said on
His way to Armageddon

So long, Mom, I'm off to drop the bomb
So don't wait up for me
But though I may roam I'll come back to my home
Although it may be a pile of debris

Remember, Mommy, I'm off to get a commie
So send me a salami
And try to smile somehow
I'll look for you when the war is over
An hour and a half from now

wonders if argh would be inclined to write a tutorial up on how the fiddle with the new explosion generator modifications as well as including reasonable particle counts depending on explosion size..

Speaking of nuclear explosions, don't they emit an emp wave as well? Would be cool to have a nuke which shuts down everything a kilometer (literally) away off.

woudn't said EMP kill most units, as most Spring units (and Nanoblobs units, I believe) are mechanical? (The EMP would mess things up so badly that things go boom)
