heres a rusty piece of iron. Could be useful for anyone wanting to make some sort of industrial revolution/steampunk type stuff.

So far they've been all bad except maybe weavers and his I can only think of one use for, on an acid shooter with arghs new flame code, we need more generally useful stuff guys, if its only a 20 minute slack job don't bother posting it.

It's a learning process, you didn't waste it but spend it on learning texturing!

See? It doesn't need to be big to be beautiful. Even if it's nasty, rusted scrap ;)

And yes, it tiles perfectly. Took me about 15 minutes in Photoshop.

Well, in a way, I guess JC is right.

And Argh put shadows on his texture, lol

Yeah... shadows make it look 3D. Which is the point. How do you think I make everything for NanoBlobs look so good?

Bleh, I can't make a good "mainstay" metal texture..

I am going to have to experiment and make a lot of textures, to see what works..

Fair enough, my first attempt was pretty abysmal. so heres a 25 minute hack job

Some scratched up metal, tiles well horizontally.

My advice to anyone learning to do things like this is practice lots, delete regularly.

Argh has the idea.

Much better, but it feels like SNES graphics- not enough attention to your light sources for the pipes, and that blue-gray is obviously hovering over the lighter gray beneath. Also it doesn't tile nicely- the little bolts need to be on the inside of the main bevel. And the pink just looks odd. All that said, much better :-)

Modelers who can't skin are like guys who can only play power chords. Besides which, I have seen your early screens, so I know you at least crossed some of that threshhold ;)
