That. Shit. Can. BURN! IN! HELL!!!

Seriously, dood, I wunta qit geting on teh intranet......

When hell freezes... I don't build up a tolerance to annoying shits... I merely grit my teeth and say "Get the fuck out of my face or you will be sorry..." I know plenty of things, like how to break plenty of limbs...

No not the limbs in my yard either... The only thing I want with the "outside" world is for most of it to go and fuck off...

Most of the time, if people talk to me they do it to annoy the shit out of me, for no good damn reason either... I wanna just pick up whatever ~25 lb object next to me and heave it at them....

I hate shits like the guy that wrote that... I wanna heave a chair at him

see, that's the problem. You tolerate less and less annoying things, then you get more and more disconnected from pepole who think diffrently. And more pepole are. The internet however makes pepole with diffrent intrestest come togther just for the fact that they don't really KNOW how the real person is. They just se the internet facade which is a copy of a copy of a copy...

Edit: here, i have the perfect quote for this.
Our Annoyance Immune System is being weakened. So what encounters you do have with the outside world, the world you can't control, make you want to go on a screaming crotch-punching spree.

Well, some of what the article said was true, but a lot of it was stupid.

For example:

1) Forums filled with people who have the same interests do NOT EVER get along. There will still be people who annoy you, and there will be people who insult you. And you still have to deal with them.

2) IMO, communicating through text will be outdated sometime, and will be replaced with voice communication / video communication / telepathic communication. Not in bulleten board like forums though.

3) Yes, if you are constantly online and the only people you know are online, you will have problems. But hardly anybody is like that. People still have school, and jobs, and family, and friend that you get together with for oldskool roleplaying, and sci-fi conventions filled with real people.

1) oh yes, but it's not the same. You can log off, turn of the computer, go play a game. If your stuck in cristhmas shopping, and the fat lady infront of you is trying to buy a 2 $ lego kit with a credit card, you can't do much about it if you want your shoppin done.

2)...And? Where talking bout 21st centruy making you misreble, not the 24th.

3)It's about tolerance. You would have more close friends (and less close friends) if you could tolerate more imperfections. The internet has created a way of pepole escaping from reality, and the lack of annoying pepole makes comunicating with pepole not like you... harder.

Also, this question. Who can answer it? (Without going around the question, "burn it, lock it in a safe".
Say a photo turns up, of you nakedly doing something that would shame you and your family for generations. Bestiality, whatever. Ask yourself how many people in your life you would trust with that photo.

I haven't read the article(stupid corporate filter-wall) but I would like to point out that Intellectuals have always had short patience with people being stupid... it's a natural elitist response to a sinceare belief that you are better then the average person. I think the problem is that while people interested in sports, wresling, music, art etc. have always found it easy to find eachother and hate those who are different from them, dorks havn't really had a safe and easy way to find eachother when they are too busy hiding from the cursed fireball in the sky in their mothers' basements until the invention of the internet.

I swear I had a point... ah yes... I miss college... it was so much easier to find good people to have conversations with IRL back then... well... college wasn't really real life anyways... it was like heaven interspersed with classes, reading and homework.

The article covers that, it's the difference between criticism and insult. Maybe you get a little offended by someone on the internet, but you realise they don't know you, so how can you be really offended... Whereas you can be offended by someone who actually knows you in real life, because that's where you actually care about what people think.
Dealing with people online comes down to avoiding them, there is not much of a real life lesson to learn from that.
Lindir wrote: 2) IMO, communicating through text will be outdated sometime, and will be replaced with voice communication / video communication / telepathic communication. Not in bulleten board like forums though.
Text will keep being the preferred tool for dealing with people you don't like online, because of the extra control he mentioned. You can't actually expose yourself with text so you will prefer to use it when dealing with those people.

Ofcourse, to some extend... but the internet still has a negative impact, even though it's not all bad...

Anyway, nice article.

It's got points... But I mean, there are too many annoying people and I have a high-ass amount of DISCIPLINE, with DISCIPLINE you can ignore anything and everything said about you, even though it annoys the piss out of you...

IF I didn't have my ungodly high amount of discipline, I would NOT be here right now... I would be watching my brother squirming in the hospital bed, with a bunch of other jackasses from school... Or I would be in some mental help facility for doing some weird stuff....

There are a lot of people this article does and does not refer to... I am one that it doesn't... Have fun people with no lives...

Edit: I know people IRL that are different from me, one likes porn and girls.. I say, okay your a pervert, WHY THE HELL WOULD I CARE!

That is the point I am trying to make... I don't care, period... I don't care if your cat coughed up a furball, I don't care if Halo 3 looks sweet...

I even think it doesn't look all that good, cuz it was a fricken cutscene...

I wouldn't argue cuz it was a bunch of people who wouldn't understand....

I shall quote myself now, to reinfore my point (with caps)
I DON'T CARE!

Hm... I don't think the article was about whether you cared or not, but anyway since you don't care this msg is a little useless too ;)

I...disagree with this entire article . Whats up with people thinking that THEIR generation is the WORST ONE IN HISTORY!

No matter how much better or worse it actually is. And I have a brain flash for you...this society is actually, when compared to what has gone before, a MASSIVE improvement. Science has improved our lives in so many ways its hard to think about and people are getting smarter and are nicer, surprisingly. Yes there are problems. Yes its not perfect. Yes there are poor and starving and needy. Yes wars just seem to never stop and Yes we have idiots in power!

Yes there is a lot of work to be done! But many of these problems seem to obscure that MASSIVE chunks of the entire planet are filled with happy, well adjusted people. I don't know why people keep going "oh this world sucks...lets slit our wrists". I want to grab those people and scream "WAKE UP! LOOK AROUND! WE CAN FLY! WE CAN LAND ON THE MOON! LIFE HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER! JUST SNAP OUT OF YOUR SELF PITY AND DO SOMETHING!"

Okay...let me cool off....

Well said, well said... I think I agree...

Go A: Kill the deer in the forest, WITH YOUR HANDS!
B: Skin deer, WITH HANDS!
C: Cook deer, WITH MATCHES AND STICKS, no pots or metal
D: Eat a deer, with hands...

Science ftw...

Replace some of those 'with hands' with 'with rocks' and its more accurate.
