The difference between GD and URC cannons is quite confusing.Fanger wrote:*cough* Lvl 2 cannon mech *cough*
URC cannons have a somwhat higher AOE and much higher damage but a longer reload time, making them somwhat halfway between plasma(or GD cannons) and artillery.
Prehaps the naming of cannon mechs should be changed to somthing else to make this distinction more apparent.
but technology wise it is still a normal cannon.
The best way i can explain it is this. At lvl 1 the URC have flamethrowers. These are short-ranged high powered weapons. At lvl 2 they swtich out the flamethrower for a cannon. So at lvl 2 the cannon be comes thier high power short ranged weapon of choice.
At lvl 3 they get both with the Flamer more of an ambush weapon as opposed to the Cannon which is more main line combat.
Honestly it is a little confusing but thats how it went in the earth series which E&E is loosely based on.

It's still definitley not a normal cannon, it's not even that short ranged, just marginaly shorter than all but the heaviest plasma cannons and turrets. The cannon turret is even longer ranged than any plasma weapon with the exception of the LRPC.
Though E&E is based off of the Earth series it should try to improve upon int, and this is an area that I beleive could use improvement. My complain is that two weapons called "cannon" have nearly nothing to do with eachother, one is a "weapon of the line" and the other is a heavy support weapon.
Are these supposed to be shotgun-like weapons? Mabye "frag cannon" would be a better name than railgun then.
Ofcourse, the final decision is up to the devs.
Oh, and I've been doing some cleanup of the wiki page, I want to change the pages title, so before I do this is the mod called "Expand & Exterminate" or "Expand and Exterminate"

I think they are interchangeable but poke Fang for an answer.FireCrack wrote:Oh, and I've been doing some cleanup of the wiki page, I want to change the pages title, so before I do this is the mod called "Expand & Exterminate" or "Expand and Exterminate"
Also don't put too much work into that as we hope to have a completely new one with whiz-bang unit guides and whatnot.
