Now whats about this Storm Idea... I don`t think it to difficult to implement such a thing - it is just a slow moving Particle Effect, with a Dangerzone - and a random Waypointsystem, which also Informs the Units to go around it. It is possible. The Scrolling Maps are offtopic by now.

@ Smoth: I really tried to fullfill everything (symetrical design, fair Metall) mentioned, but i am not willing to completely give up the Freedom to do Mad things. And i am happy with the number of people playing it. See it as Salt in the Soup Smoth. There aint much nessecary - and it is of course not healthy to put to mutch in it. But living without... :wink:

C'mon smoth, it's a nice AND and original idea, which truly is something that's lacking today. There's no need of bashing.

If it's something the devs won't ever make because it would require a total reengineering, I'm sure everyone(ok, almost) would comprehend their decision, you and picasso included, and move on.

But a Weather System with Sandstorms like in Dune - is possible, and would have the Same Effect like Scrolling Maps.

scroling is cool but crushing by border not
i sugest a lava border or a ground falling in deepspace(endlesstory)

i sugest too a not scolling map with water or lava or cum raise with time for at end all map cover(or reverse liquid downing)

or a map with tree or others thing infest progress side to center with time

Hate hate to say it, but emmanuel just posted a releated isea WAY better than the one proposed by the OP.

Now, first we would need lava that actualy works, but maps where the lava would slowly rise and you have to fight for the high ground to survive would be REALLY cool.

Well the Scrolling Map Idea was dead already, but i suggested a Storm like Phenomen, that slowly moves over the Map...

your mind seem only half dead :
storm is existing(wind mini=1 wind max=1000)
but without other effect than move smoke and increase windgenerator script
i sugest that impulsefactor will be related/linked to wind value and direction

But i am not talking about Windpowerchanges

I am talking about a slowmoving Tornado- a Dangerzone, were everything is destroyed, that slowly moves around the Map. The Effect that this Thing has, is secondary, it is just the Fact that such a thing would hurt porcers and force you into spreading your Base, or invest into Shields for every Part...

The Problem is to keep that Fair, that not one Player is reapeatly blown away, or destroyed in the StartUp Phase. As with many things (like your Lavaidea) the Devil is hidden in the Detail.

Maybee it is not a good idea after all... storm, scrolling or lava It would just bring some Live into the Maps. And it would help noobs, because even Veteran-Map-knowers can`t use the hidden Mean-Attack Path, when a Tornado is making breakfest
