Re: Bloom

Sorry for being slightly off-topic, but I think cel-shading would be a nice (optional!) addition to the Spring engine.

SupCom-esqe spawning of the commander

I am not much of a SupCom fan, but I do miss the "explosion" at the start of the game, it's much nicer then the commander simply appearing, it also gives a little bit of time for the player to prepare. Not only that, but I think it is very poetic, "everything started with a big bang&q...

Re: CA Idol!

I think it would be better to assign each unit a small "chime" as opposed to a voice. Voices get annoying, especially when the voice actors are not professional, and even then. Voices are also just another thing that should be localized. Having a chime would allow complex sound effect comb...

Re: CA Amphibs? What's going to happen with them?

I really like the idea of giving hovers jump-jet abilities, it would give them a purpose on many land-only maps and it fits in well with the all-terrain gameplay that type of unit has.

Re: default healthbars

I don't see why the health bars should be continued to be developed, Lua is more than capable of such things.

Nanolathe prepare times

The ARM construction vehicle seems to take forever to start construction, even more annoying is when finishing one building and starting a new one, since it has to "pack-up" and than "un-pack" right after, and this takes a very... long... time. Since this isn't for balancing purp...

If a player wins solely because of widgets, then there is something wrong with the gameplay of that mod.

[Idea] Detailed resource income/expenses

At times I have been interested in exactly what is sucking down my metal or energy, I have also been interested how much energy my T1 energy plants are bringing in. My suggestion for a Lua UI mod is a list of income and expenses. Here is a quick mockup. http://i44.tinypic.com/1ibax4.png The first co...

Turn-based gameplay

I am interested to know if any mods have a kind of "turn-based" gameplay to them. Maybe not turn-based as like in games such as Advance Wars (because waiting for your opponent to make a move sucks), but more like Toribash, where the gameplay pauses for a limited amount of time while the pl...

Re: Networking rewrite, need help

I am not a developer, but as I live in Australia, I often experience high latency. For the most part Spring does an excellent job dealing with high-latency, 300-400ms is very playable. The one annoyance I have is changing firing modes (return fire, etc), since cycling through them is affected by lat...

Re: I need suggestions on making a script

OK, I have made significant progress, but now I have run into issues with the UnitDamaged callin. UnitDamaged() --> "unitID, unitDefID, unitTeam, damage, paralyzer, weaponID, attackerID, attackerDefID, attackerTeam" weaponID, attackerID, attackerDefID and attackerTeam are always nil, I am ...

Re: I need suggestions on making a script

I am having some trouble with the sockets library, the problems mainly involve me not knowing what I am doing. The examples (if that's what they were) were only slightly helpful, at this stage, I have no idea on how to load the socket library. I did manage to echo when units got damaged, etc, so I a...

Re: I need suggestions on making a script

Anything CA-dependent is fine, since that is all I play anyway.

Any further info would be greatly appreciated, as I have no experience with Lua or the inner workings of Spring.

I may consider releasing what I make to the community (open-source, ofc) if it gets to a point where I am happy with it.

Re: I need suggestions on making a script

I am interested in more than just the orders players give, call me lazy, but I just don't feel like re-implementing Spring's engine in it's entirety to find out what unit attacks which. I intending on extracting this information while watching replays, since I would also be able to extract this info...

I need suggestions on making a script

Hello, I am interested in exporting data from replays from games I have played in Spring into an external program so that it can be parsed, analyzed and stored into a database. I am a programmer, but I have no Lua experience, and I am wondering how I would go about coding something like this. It is ...

Re: The planetwars problem

I would like 1v1 4v4 8v8 to have separate map slots. 1v1ing on a 8v8 map sucks, and backstabbing for mexes on 8v8 is annoying.

If you have played TA (old game from the 90s) before, give BA a shot, if you haven't, play CA.

Re: True dual monitor support

Alternatively/Additionally I would like to be able to access information about the game being played from outside Spring, so that I could make my own minimap program to be displayed on the second screen. I suggest that TCP be used, so that the other screen(s) could be on other computer(s). I would i...

Re: Spring Downloader fails to load, unitsync error

I -do- need SpringDownloader actually, I play CA almost exclusively, and I am not going to be downloading 60MB every new version. I tried doing a re-install, with everything being ran as admin, I also installed to a different directory to what I installed to before. I did manage to get to the point ...
