Re: Ubuntu Problems
Has anyone managed an install on 8.04 yet? I tried the obvious but had no luck. I even tried installing the i386.deb file from http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu/ ... /s/spring/ which at least gave me a readable error of 'Dependency is not satisfiable: libglewl.4' As a NooB to Linux I am not sur...

Z - What a breath of fresh air  So we SP's are NOT the minority after all. The MP's are :P MAKE ALL MAPS SINGLE PLAYER COMPATIBLE! But seriously (if I can stop laughing), what you said makes a lot of sense both about placing start points and the numbers of player types. My argument/reque...

Not always. Sometimes maps are made for different purposes. For Example edola prime was made with quick fast action in mind, the map is 30x30, but the start positions are very close to one another Which is what I intended from the get go. OK, but that is a feature of the map to make it play the way...

If 85% of play is conducted in multiplayer, the maps shall have multiplayer optimized start positions - if they are optimized for any sort of play. Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference? Surely the optimum is to maximise the distance between starts? That applies to both Multi and Single pl...

Devon, you can do what I said earlier using springsp. Yes you can but why have to do that every time you play a map? What is wrong with wanting it to work 'out of the box'? Don't get me wrong - I can cope with this. As previously explained, I have already extracted every .smd file and can easily mo...

but it didn't af, thread was recovered and now I am derailed discussing it when both paul and I dropped it. LOL! Aint forums fun :-) AF - I see your point but what is the harm in raising it as a general request? If the people making maps can read, digest and understand all sides of the issue then h...

Devon, you're going about this all wrong. Furthermore, from my skimming of this thread you're pissing off all the wrong people. Anyway, the only thing I want to add to the discussion is that any maps by me, noize, hrmph, mufdvr, icexuick, smoth and (I believe, as I'm pretty sure I would have notice...

One way I use is to take a screenshot when my cursor is over the place I want a start point. That way you can go ahead and grab several coordinates quickly. I find it easier from in-game to pause and zoom in to the desired location with nothing selected. The tooltip, bottom left; shows the cursor c...

oh, they have a tool to do map start points. Perhaps I am not coming across right. It isn't considered ridicule to list the maps that have start points you feel need to be looked at. If someone is offended then blame it on me citing the fact that I suggested you do it. However, some people forbodin...

The point still remains, list the maps in question. dude, also in the future please use the quote tag, ...

NO I will not 'name and shame'. That is not what this is about. I just want to raise the issue so that some Map Makers think about it before releasing their work. If a Map Maker sees this they will know which category they fall into, or at least should do. Hi newguy who presumes too much. Let me ex...

The truth is, an awful lot of map makers -dont- think before releasing their work. OK so how about this. Almost all of Hunterws maps suffer from this, and some of forebodings maps (even the recent ones) suffer fom bad start pos syndrome. For example on EE conqueorors isle you start next to an uw mex spot near the top left corner, and on tabula your enemy AI starts to the south less than a screen aways...

this is one thing i like in SupCom is that when you start a skirmish, you can see on the minimap where are the start points and yu can select the one you want to start and the same for the AI. Tangerine is one of those nice maps that is unplayable in solo exept in a 4v4 match (but 7 AIs kill everyb...
