Unreal 3 engine will indeed make extensive use of the PPU. But it's not by any means the only game... Warhammer Online will use the PPU as well, among others. The PPU will usher in the next generation of games, redifining gaming as we know it. Think about this: with Havok physics, you can have upwar...

Some things to consider: - Defender will have a significant advantage because the corpses will be near/in his base. Solution: Allow all combat units to reclaim corpses. - Massed defenses make a single f...

Framerate questions
I am running Spring on a: Athlon XP3200+ 1.25G of Ram GeForce 6600GT The game should run blazing fast. I have all options maxed except for Shadows, which is turned off. My framerate never goes above 40 to 50 fps. With shadows it's more like 20 to 30. On friends machines (which are worse then mine), ...

More info on the races themselves will be released in good time. We are holding off on more fluff information until the website is up and we have a few models ready to post, so look for that within the next week. In the meantime, i will continue to take suggestions and answer any non-fluff related q...

The United Tribes will be based around a massive flying structure which at this point we are just referring to as the mobile command center. It will be used to construct almost everything and will be an integral, nay all important part of Tribe production. We are thinking that for the Tribes, there ...

As far as LOS goes, that will remain to be determined. We hope to have a playable beta released within 4 months, but that is a subject of much speculation. It would be cool if we could get it out sooner. And for the record, our team size is currently 2 members, each of us putting in a goodly number ...

Indeed, the player color texture areas are determined during a units design. We will certainly take ease of distinction into account when applying texture areas to the models. We should have pics of models up within the week. Thanks for all the awesome feedback guys. Keep suggestions and ideas flowi...

I can assure you that we will be utilizing fresh and original construction trees and playstyles. For example, the Machinations main combat unit is called the Monolith, and it builds more of itself. The United Tribes will start the game with a Mobile Command Center, which is a massive flying complex ...

Thanks for the reply. by 'standalone' I mean that it will not require copyrighted TA material to use, as everything will be made by our team. It will still use spring as it stands now and will work as a mod for the current (and future) versions of the engine. More information can be found in this po...

Lights on units
I am developing a GPL stand-alone mod for the spring engine and had a few questions about things that are or are not possible. For one, is it possible to create a lightsource other then the map's universal lightsource in the game? If so, can these be placed on units and/or structures? If not, could ...
