Ummm... C&C3?

Post by KDR_11k »

I see no talk about this game at all. Well, except for the demo. Nobody picked it up? I grabbed it because it was pretty cheap, probably decent and most likely played on every LAN henceforth.

Personally I like the improvements, no more monolithic building, proper queues, lots of different movement modes to tell your units exactly what you expect them to do, etc. So far the Scrin seem to have a distinct micro advantage because they need no silos. Man, I hate silos. OTOH their Mothership is pretty much a waste of ressources. Maybe it would be more useful if it fired instantly instead of charging for half a minute after arrival. Oh and hooray for carrier spam in yet another RTS.

A feature I found myself wishing for is a quick select button for the commando unit. Nothing like searching the map for a tiny little infantry guy. Another nice feature would be a list of the buildings you've already built so you know if you lost one (and what it was) during a bomber attack. Oh and a "repair all" button and automatically going into building placement mode when you select a building menu that already has something built, perhaps with an automatic switch to the next completed building if you have more than one complete.

Crap, if this goes on I'll be implementing an interface mod sooner or later...

"Repair All" has always been conspicuously absent in the C&C games.

If I've got the resources, I want it repaired. I don't want to have to go through each building and tell it to repair. I would've gone with a TA-style toggle "autorepair on/off".

ive got it, TEH ALIENZ ARE CUMIN

the story line is possibly the most unbelieveable yet :)

still fun fun fun sp :)

always did love the IRL mission briefings lol.

(ps, spring needs orbial weapons in at least 1 mod considering its set in an age where they should really have such things, which brings me on to the topic of why are there no long range weapons in start trek! mystery.)

I liked C and C 3, from the demo...but it seemed like it was too light. I could crank out mamoth tanks in...five, maybe ten minuts flat. So battles are over in a SNAP and I'm like, "Eeeerrrrr...wasn't that supposed to be longer?"

Other than that, it's pretty nice.

Is Kane edition worth it? The regular cost 35€, the kane edition 50€. I know I'd be pretty annoyed/disappointed had I paid 50€ for this game.

I'm gonna ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD IT once I have my new computer, which is still in the stars. And then buy it if it's any good as I own every CNC game but the few shoddy ones (generals, sole survivor, renegade).

I'm more curious about wether there's blood in the german version it or not.

The corny cutscenes with hot babes, Ironside and Kane ****ing owns so much. In fact, the whole game feels like one huge parody on itself and RTSes, and I like it.

The balance sucks of course, we all know this. But Cnc never was strong on interesting unit balance, with maybe the exception of generals. It's nowhere close to starcraft in this respect. It's all just tanks tanks tanks, all units stays at about the same distance and shoots eachother up. Infantry isn't viable at all no infantry seems cost effective against even normal tanks. There's a million infantry-mass-slaughter weapons too.

The story itself kind of sucks, at least seen from the GDI perspective (I saved the best for last). The aliens seriously lack personality, they seem more mindless then the zerg even. Maybe it's better when playing Nod tough, I excpect that.

The economy... well I don't like cnc style econ. Sure the tiberium/spice is cool. But I don't like keeping track of harvesters runnning around and getting killed, too much annoyment. I also think the fields run out way too fast, since you can have as many harvesters as you want. I prefer warcraft style were you put 5 peons on the mine no less no more... You could say I like economy management kept to a minimum.

I see it as a good single player game. The cutscenes own.

I don't think I've seen blood yet but everyone wears combat armor so blood wouldn't be very visible anyway. There's definitely no "cyborg" crap this time. Considering Company of Heroes got away with flying, bloody severed limbs and a 16 rating and Dawn of War had units bloodily mutilating each other I doubt C&C got censored anywhere.

I like how they made the tank vs. infantry damage via the "natural" way, i.e. infantry squads where at most one guy dies from a tank shot but I don't like how AT infantry, the very unit that's supposed to maim tanks, has only two squad members. Zone troopers are decent AT but most of the time you're better off with nodmots, pitbulls and seekers instead of AT inf. I also wish commandos were immune to suppression, it's annoying when they bomb a building and get suppressed by the blast.

And is it just me or do beam cannons have less range when using the reflector than normally?

I think you can link the reflector together more then one aircraft in a chain.

The thing with the infantry is that all of them seem like their specialized in killing other infantry, except the rocket squads that are only 2 so dies like flies, and zone troopers that cost like a tank, do decent damage, but still get WTFPWNDT by all the anti-infantry stuff so they suck.

So your better off just building all out tanks, why build infantry just to take out infantry I mean.

I bought it, it's amazing, definitely a lot different than TA or SupCom, but it's still good.

The CnC series is what got me into RTS's, so it's nice to see it back.

One thing that interested me, is how you can join a game mid game to spectate, and it has voice chat. I love spectating, it's fun to watch other people kill eachother

Plain generals without a mod in place? NOES! It's not even fun in multiplayer then. Same for ZH.

Okay not fun for me, I get your point, you seem to like it. :P

IT is EA - that means it has all THings built in that are Standard. Only real plus is the cool Design and Storytelling.
And now lets wait for
C&C 2008
C&C 2010
C&C 2012
C&C 2014

For EA every new released Game ist just another Versionvariation of the Footballseries...

I for one welcome "standard" features like queueing orders without retarded markers and draggable formations (though Spring's interface for that is better).

I bought it, I live in Holland BTW, so no anti blood and suiciders like my neighbor country, lol. Anyway, it is a good game except the new group
and I find tiberian sun beter (not the graphics) the world was destroyed and stuff and now it is almost rebuild, they took all the good units away,
gimme bak those dem titans kiddo -.-. But it is a cool game and you won't be dissapointed if you buy it.

It's a great game .. fast action, interesting missions, nice effects and interesting units.
It's fun.
Videos draw you in the story so atmosphere also excels.

And unlike supcom (which has gameplay worse than spring imo) it runs smooth nearly on max details on my 3+ years old PC

I have to say that Westwood has done an impressive job at re-releasing the same game over and over again with a new engine. I can't think of any other series that has been redone-from-scratch with the exact same gameplay more than C&C/Dune (admit it, they're the same game) from the same developers.
