sm3 map, Block Wars

Post by mufdvr222 »

Kind of experimental as sm3 maps are at the moment, there are three variants of the one map, Block Wars, Block Wars medium, and Block Wars wet. Block wars and block wars wet are the same size, very large I think its 64 x 64, whilst block wars medium is a lot smaller, due to the shadows issue on large maps I added this one for ATI users, if you have one of these cards and you get an error when you try and load the map disable shaders for sm3 maps in "settings".

If the large version had a single terrain texture it would be around 32768 x 32768 which I think is a 64 x 64 map.

mufdvr222,

Nice map 8) ..

shouldn't you have made the file as a .sd7 , instead
of a zip?

Also, nice and big ....

Smoth. When I am done with this paper, we are getting everyone together for a Gundam FFA here. Seriously.

I now agree that the sm3 format isn't quite ready for use:

Both normal and water crash, but the medium one works fine however. Do I need more than 2GB ram or what? Has Spring dropped support for Win2000? Should I update my X1900 drivers?

Also, you need to include the minimap, as a picture file.

And rename that zip to sdz!

Minimaps are not possible for sm3 maps this size
zwzsg, does your graphics use nvidia chipset or ati, there are lots of issues "especially large sm3 maps" with ati cards.

And can anyone tell me, can I replace the zipped version at unknown or do I have to upload the sd7 version as a whole new upload?

In the meantime here is the sd7 version until I get it sorted at unknown

zwzsg, that could be ram related, as I get that error when I double the size of the 64x64 afpop to 128x128, you need more ram.

Minimaps are not in any way related to actual map size, its just an image. It is possible.

There is not enough in game zoom to capture the whole map.
