.:New Map:. EE-RiverGlade

Post by Forboding Angel »

Obviously the name is sort of a joke. The concept is Fang's, features by Lathan and Smoth. Fang said he wanted a riverdale-esque map, and gave me a concept, this is the result.

This map is designed with EE in mind, but I took GREAT pains to make sure that it played really well in BA as well.

Uses normal mex patch resourcing as well. No reclaimable features on this one, but there are plenty of features :P

Hope you guys enjoy it, and I strongly encourage you BA players to try it out in BA as well. It seems to play really really well in BA too.

BTW, saktoth and shox, thanks for the testing help and ideas/suggestions, I followed most of them.

BTW I know about the unbuildable mex spots in the water in BA, hopefully we can have that rectified in the future versions of BA.

Basically there isn't enough water for the UW mex, and there is too much for the land based. Those values should probably be evened out so that if you can't build one, you can build the other.

you can always just send a nuke at it

then you can build an underwater mex

looks good. will try it out.

2 questions:
1.what size is the map?
2. is all the water shallow enough for vehicles? or jut parts of it?

PS: the mushrooms look really good!

played a few games in BA on the map and it plays quite good.
I like how for some un-explained reason players still gravitate towards the middle pass although all the water is traversable with all units, guess it's something about human nature.
I like the map very much but i've noticed that shadows that fall on the water are a little screwed, that might be only at my end though (shadows on, reflective water only, nvidia).

It's a spring bug, and one I just recently noticed. Annoying, but meh, what can I do :-/

I know what you're talking about with the gravitating towards the middle. Prolly just a psych thing ;P

shallow traversable water seems to be a very common theme these days

Prolly just a byproduct of excessive SSB playing :-)

I have an issue with the colors of your ocean texture and made some variations...

Don't get me wrong, the map is fine (as usual), I just don't like the white/blue ocean texture. :)

Thanks rattle. Tobi showed me the log a ways back, and we agreed that ocean2 is the shit. However, I never saved the image for use later (doah).
