Edit:

Though I don't really see the need to create a .zip for a 1 kb file :P

I'm pretty sure a lot of people would fuck up if they were to get the lone XML because every decent browser displays XML instead of downloading it.

Anyway blame cuppie :)

Brilliant! That should speed up downloading of missing maps etc, without constantly hitting the main page :)
Thanks, Cup!

<Betalord> should it open it in a default browser?
<IaMaCuP> yes
<Betalord> what page should it open?
<IaMaCuP> http://spring.unknown-files.net/page/se ... earchStrin
<IaMaCuP> http://spring.unknown-files.net/page/se ... rchString/
<IaMaCuP> if you want it to do by category or anything then http://spring.unknown-files.net/page/se ... rchString/ is mods and http://spring.unknown-files.net/page/se ... rchString/ is maps
<IaMaCuP> but i reccon just 'all' will be find
<IaMaCuP> fine*
<Betalord> ok I think it's a good idea
<Betalord> I'll just have to figure it out how to squize it into the current panel since it is not large enough .. (it is made for 800x600)
<IaMaCuP> if you put it under where you type stuff
<IaMaCuP> and made it so you could hide it
<IaMaCuP> by a single button click
<IaMaCuP> expand/hide thingi
<IaMaCuP> then i dont think anyone would mind
<Betalord> where do you mean, in the channel/private chats?
<IaMaCuP> above battle list
<IaMaCuP> below the part where you type
<IaMaCuP> messages
<IaMaCuP> if thats possible
<Betalord> aha
<IaMaCuP> obviously needs to be expand/hide-able
<IaMaCuP> or it would annoy some people
<IaMaCuP> otherwise it would have to go on the end next to help, and people with small res just wont see it
<IaMaCuP> but whatever im sure you will figure something out :)

The way this is going why not just change the lobby into an AJA app, with the server written in .NET for its backend or something?

By the way, the XML can be placed in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(some random characters - by default it is the only folder here)

That folder carries all of your extensions, configuration and other junk, so it can be used to back up everything in Firefox

For Opera users, Opera has this sort of features already made in.
Just rightclick on the searchbar in unknown files and use "Make search".
I'm a little surprised FF didn't had this sort of thing already

Update:

(for a link click on the pretty picture)

For Firefox 2+ and any other browser which supports that search plugin format.
