You know, to expect your graphic drivers and Spring to work perfectly on an OS that's just released is sort of... uh, stupid. :(

But let's start with the graphic drivers, are they the newest version? Have you made sure no other programs are running at the same time?

Also, opengl support is really poor on vista. I'm surprised you managed run spring :P

The video drivers for MS Vista are still too new. Mostly likely it's
going to be a few more weeks before the drivers get any better.

Also, if you are using MS Vista, I hope you are using all new
hardware. IMO ... if you are still using a single core processor
and less then 2 GB memory ... You should have got new
hardware before getting MS Vista.

Also, having the latest video hardware is a most when running
MS Vista. Nvidia 7950 .. or 8800 ... ATI has some good video
cards too, like the X1950 ...

IMO ... I'm going to wait before upgrading to MS Vista Ultimate.
As soon as SLi is working properly and the rest of the drivers
get better ... thats when I'll update to it ...

I don't expect Vista to be consistent, or worth the money.

I get 35-40 fps with all the settings on max save dynamic water (dynamic water doesnt like 8800's and gives graphical errors), plus 16x AA and AF.

Atm the nvidia drivers for vista support openGL and directx 9 SLi. Directx 10 SLi support will be within the next few weeks.

But the graphics drivers are new and where rushed out for vista, I got one BSOD quoting nvidia drivers, and directx9 games run a lot faster than there openGL counterparts atm.

What. OpenGL support is up to the graphic drivers, not Vista.

(seriously, why do people seem to constantly listen to these false rumors without at least investigating a little? I've had people tell me Vista sucks because of DRM, yet they were unable to tell me what DRM was or even what it was short for).

Vista has native opengl 1.2 support.

XP has no native OpenGL support at all.

ZellSF is right, its the gfx card providers fault not microsoft. Go blame ATI or nvidia.

OpenGL is fine under Vista if you have a nvidia card:

works perfect. if not better

also its a banstixx for nvidia and ati rly not microsoft because they have had vista for ages

also on a side not, microsoft support really is quite amazing (i bet noone has used it and you just asume its quality), i have OEM so i have no support officialy, i emailed them at 8.30 in the morning about my setup Blue Screening for some logitec webcam drivers which they say are safe and work fine, within 5 hours i had a phone call from microsoft uk asking how they could reproduce the error o.O

i was like WTF I EMAILED YOU DONT RING MEH FOOZ

but yeh, its good :)
