Maybe it would also be a good idea to have a smaller map pack that just contains the most popular maps?
You can fit the most popular maps into a <500MB package.

The sexy thing about torrents is that you can just download the maps you need out of the torrent and leave the rest for later. You don't have to leech the whole thing.

most torrent programs are able to do that indeed. minus the fact it's a big rar-file.

soooo much to learn, sooo little time to learn it... sooo many amateurs...

leave the torrents for ISO's...

a torrent thats "updated" WILL NOT HASH WITH A TORRENT ALLREADY RUNNING! meaning, a new torrent, and a loss of the old, split P2P connections, and TERRIBLE SPEED!....

this might work to get everyone up to date on maps, but after that, its gonna fall to pieces..

No, not really? That doesn't seem like such a good idea.

I think its better to only download maps then you see a considerable amount of people playing it. Minor space wasted...

and as far as updating them ill just make a new torrent for each update. ill just let them all run.

Ideas

Post by viperskwa »

Hey, I'm the guy who is hosting the torrents right now. This is what i think should happen.
1. Get all of the maps currently listed on unknown-file and put it into a large torrent
2. Release a new large torrent with new maps every month or two months. This will slowly replace the older torrents.
3. Use my site to listed all of the newer maps not included in the torrent for direct download
4. Have a smaller torrent with popular maps

If you guys have any other ideas about how to distributing the maps easily and efficiently using my site and peers, please let me know.

I dont think the large file is the ideea. I play only a few maps. I dont need them all. A torrent with only one map sounds better. And as we know, searching a torrent is not a problem. Except this, Music dont need to stay a day to download his favorite map
