Latency in gamerooom list.

Post by RaiFox »

Out of all the request/suggestions I've made this is my most wanted.

I would like to be able to see the latency/pings of games I connect to, this is because unless I connect to an oceanic server I get pings of around 600-700 which is alright, but I'd prefer to do better than that.

this would mean you have to get the host's ip before joining, i dont know if this would be good.

maybe displaying the host's flag somewhere in the game status would be enough. (or you could look it up in the nicklist, which is quite annoying, i agree)

Server sends every client each host's IP anyway. It would be easy to implement a /pinghost in the battle room.

I don't think almost every online game ever made has encountered much issues because of this...

A unprotected Windows computer gets hacked within a minuted regardless of if they already have your IP address or not. Any modern computer will have a firewall beause of this and what you're trying to say is a problem can be safely ignored.

IP addresses aren't so secret anyway. I could get the IP addresses of everyone here simply by posting an image.

Couldn't get my actual one :P

Yay for a total mixup of hardware and software firewalls, proxies and other things. I may not be able to PLAY games online from here, but this machine is near undetectable from the net...

and before ya do a portscan to prove me wrong, you'll be picking up my downstairs machine...

Just end this useless discussion. If you are posting here we have your IP address anyway . If you don't want your IP address public, then you should disconnect that little ethernet cable plug from your computer, and never go online ever after...

No, but the IP address that's accessible on the internet, which is the one that matters.

Most people aren't directly connected to the internet.
