No more TA-based mods.
For those of you who don't read the General thread, it has finally happened - Atari noticed. They've C&D'd unknown-files. Cup's correspondence with them has revealed that the files in particular that offended them were
a) the Spring installer (which means that Spring must finish the process of shucking TA)
and
b) Absolute Annihilation.
Which means that all TA-based mods are in trouble.
For the sake of your hosts, you should probably get your mods off of them before they force you (Sourceforge will probably be very angry at Caydr).
For TA-based mods, we'll probably need a Wargus/Freecraft-like solution where the game uses any OTA content a mod may require by reading the data DIRECTLY from the OTA CD. Which will require some changes to the Spring engine itself.
But either way - time to start learning to play E&E, Nanoblobs et al.

He started writing the thread before Cup posted that other thread.Machiosabre wrote:I sure hope you're being sarcastic or I might just have to give up whats left of my faith in humanity.
Although having AA on sourceforge is pretty weird.

I'd bet my right foot that will never be implemented Picasso
As for moving away from TA content I think spring has done a good job at that. Espescially with the new GPL installer. Our next hurdle is to get people to think/refer of some of the mods as games (for E&E/nanoblobs/etc: of course things like AA variants will always fit into the 'mods' classification).
