Connecting to server...
This seems to occur only with certain people, and not with everyone else. When I try to play a game, the game starts, loads, and shows a "connectiing to server" message and a countdown timer. When the timer goes to zero, the game exits back to the battlescreen. If I host, I get the waiting for players screen, the other players will get the problem... Tried using and not using NAT tranversal, tried using my hardware friewall and not using my hardware firewall, tried searching the forums and wiki (maybe i missed something). This only happens with certain people and not on everyone else...

depending on ur router this works 85% of the time. This is if you have a ROUTER... if not, then nvm.
1. Find ur ip. (enter ipconfig into command prompt is easy)
2. Log into your router (by typing usually 192.168.1.1 in ur browser or 192.168.0.1 etc depending on router) and admin as either username or pass
3. Search until you find the DMZ section, click enable and enter in ur IP where it requests it. Click save
4. Find the applications and gaming tab and set up an application for port opening with teh name Spring (or w/e you want) and from ports 8452 to 8452 for both TCP and UDP, enter in ur IP again and click enable. Click save.
5. This should help a lot if you haven't tried.
gl, hf, mtfbwy.
P.S. warning: this leaves you exposed to the internet so don't get a virus or something.

http://www.portforward.com/
Descriptions for portforwarding, which is basically what pwned was describing. It has basically EVERY router in there, so your boud to find the right instructions for yours.

U more than likey behind a firewall = blocked ports.
And also gonna behind a NAT meaning unit machines are sharing a internet ip('s) address
If port hole-punching in Lobby Client doesnt work for u. Depends on their NAT there using if it will or not.
U are pretty much outof luck
I highly doubt u be able to play spring online anytime soon.
Unless i get corrected by Betalord :)
Unless
1) U get Uni to port forward a port for u
2) U get yourself a internet connection & not via Uni Network

Hmm my friend had similar problem. We didn't fix it, but he got a chance to try a game by running "spring.exe" and finding one with absolutley nothing, or setting up a game with nothing at all. then type .cheat and .give all (is that the correct command?).
Its fun blowing up stuff, but i did manage to play with my friend after come to thing of it. We had himput graphics super low, and on join we had to try about 5-10 times before it worked. On large explosions, game crashed for him. So all i have to say is keep trying and no AI...

The firewall thing is host side, which explains why you can join some games and not others.nobody2u wrote:I doubt that my firewall is blocking any needed ports; if it is then why can I connect with most people and not others? This only occurs in about 1 in every ten people I play with, so its not such a big problem...for now
If you host however, you need to configure your network for it, which isn't always as easy as it sounds. Unless any of the NAT traversal methods works for you, of course.
Oh, and no one listen to Pwnedbyryan. Setting your computer in a DMZ is a huge, unneeded risk. Just forward the ports.

Anyone have an explanation for that?ZellSF wrote:The firewall thing is host side, which explains why you can join some games and not others.nobody2u wrote:I doubt that my firewall is blocking any needed ports; if it is then why can I connect with most people and not others?
