.:New Map:. Industrial Mountain

Post by Forboding Angel »

I didn't mention it before because I thought everyone knew... All the features used on this map were created by Lathan Stanley.

Perfect for AA or EE.

Played a really good game of AA on it and it is very well.

Considering that the map is technically designed for EE, gameplay in it is absolutely superb.

This is a very low metalwise map. You must reclaim the tiberium to survive, however, there is an interesting twist. The tiberium takes a little bit to reclaim as it gives a ton of energy, but depending on which tiberium you reclaim you can get from 150 - 25 metal per tiberium. Factories, satellite dishes and pipes are excellent candidates for quick metal boosts.

Make sure you take note of the start positions as they are a bit wierd, however, it's very balanced.

Lastly... Have Fun!!!

This does play rather well in E&E. Good work...

Nice design.
Nice texture, snow could be a tad whiter so it would fit better with the features IMO.

Also I think the tiberium is out of place.. (as we still need a proper C&C mod)

The mex extraction range is too big, I could extract all 3 starting metalspots with 1 mex.

The ammounts of metal which you get my reclaiming those factory's is a bit too much IMO.

just trying to be constructive.

Thanks for the critique, but all the things you mentioned are intended, including the mex radius.

As of this map, Tiberium is no longer an only C&C resource.

Noize, did you try reclaiming the tiberium? It takes a while and not much gained from it. Everyone will try to go immediate T2 in AA and they will lose because of it. Yes the factories give a lot of metal, but that is also intended. Good luck reclaiming the 200k one.

However, with the advent of gradual reclaim, those 200k factories start to look mighty tasty.

Personally I think the tiberium is a nice touch.

Fits in with the pretty snow and reminds me of C&C.

Bonus points for that :p.

Map size is a bit large though, getting people to join and play might be harder then usual >_>.

I watched a game on it, plays quite fair... and the factories hit the middle of a big friggin warzone rather than a "resource"... reclaiming them is... tricky to pull off

Wow. Love that "radar dish" map feature.
And the rest, too. First map i ever noticed to have professionally looking features.

About the tiberium: i dont know. It really would make sense to have gradual reclaiming activated for something like that.

Looks very good, but it'd look extremely good if the snow was whiter, real snow is white. (I live at 60 degrees north). :-)

Thank lathan for the features, he did all of em. Even put em in a nice neat little package for everyone ready to go in game.

True, I asked him to make them and described what I wanted, but I had no idea they would be so kick ass.

Point in case, mappers, go start kissing lathan's ass and he might make some features for you ;p

The slightly dirty snow is great, pure snow maps are often painfully bright, especially in LOS view.
