-=NEW MAP=- Severnaya Industrial v0.96

Post by LathanStanley »

And this is my finished map:
(will get an update with the next spring version)

Severnaya Industrial
V .96

Unknown filed download = (borked right now) http://www.unknown-files.net/index.php? ... &dlid=1684

Snowy mountainscape, littered with trees and rocks. A major industrial complex dominates the center of the map, and has outreaching pipelines that run along the countryside. The map is dominate 6 player NNE vs SSW (3 man teams), and plays a 4 player FFA very well.

Will support up to 6 in a FFA and 8 for teams, (though 8 players can play FFA the starts are a little small)

Metal Distribution: Striations of metal with concentrations at the geological faultlines of the mountains.
Wind: Fair
Tidal strength: No water
Geothermal: 4 spots in center ring around center hill (NSWE respectively)

Suggestions for gameplay: RECLAIM!! do not overlook this ability, it is VERY important. Also, troops and cannons etc, are effective on higher ground, same goes for the middle, but know there is NO METAL! in the middle fo the map, yes there are factories to reclaim, etc. but they will not sustain your ability to live up there, when the metal is gone, its gone.

All of the features are made by me, and the map.
I hope you guys enjoy it.

-Lathan Stanley

Texture is really nice!!

Features fit perfectly!! great job on those!

When i load it up i get a few error messages:
Image

Also i'm not really a fan of the metal distribution (or the mex extraction range) as i need to put down a zillion mexxes:
Image

Also the features in the middle are 4200 metal each!, that's insane IMO. you can actually start as air and go reclaim it instantly ...

On more note, please use thumbnails or smaller images so the page layout doesn't get broken.

the error messages are placeholders for the next version's "added" features.... not too big of deal...

and YES the factories give alot of metal,.. if you can keep a guy up there long enough to reclaim it, more power to you.. remember in OTA how the buildings gave like 4,000-12,000 metal each?? on the urban maps?? this isn't much different...

and 3 mines + commander + constructors at 7.2 metal?? dosen't seem too bad to me I thoroughly tested it for balance...

but on OTA that was nearly the only metal on those maps, well you had to travel half the map to get to the green area with metal patches.. so that's kinda different isn't it?..

just trying to be constructive..

Absolutely wonderful.

It's a shame people aren't willing to download and try out new maps very much.

I was only playing with you, but thanks, Lathan.

Are you going to keep playing around with this feature set or move on to the next?

This.Is.Awesome

Seriously, you and FA both have amazing maps here.

But can you do me a favor? Please? Take the same climate settings, the same textures, the same setup. And make a small map. Like 8x8 to 12x12 is fine. I figure, you've done all this hard work, milk it for at least one more map? (I know you would still have to place features and do a dozen other annoying steps, but it would be less work than starting over, certainly...)

Thanks, either way, for a terrific map.

Great map! The features really give it a nice ambience, and the texture is dead sexi.

I downloaded the map, but I'm having problems running it.

The map does not appear in the TA Spring map list. I've tried hitting the reload button, but it does not help. Also, I renamed the file to .7z and tried to open the archive with 7-Zip, but 7-Zip did not recognize it as a valid .7z archive.

I can open other maps with 7-Zip without any difficulties.

Any idea what's going on here?

You download might have been corrupted, it is not unheard of.
