NewPost Auto Search

Post by PicassoCT »

How would it be if some Forum Threads - like Feature Request, would have a Autosearch activatet with "Create New Topic" that trys to find - by word comparing similar "Old Topic-Threads... and shows them while the NewTopic-Writer is working- or even before..

PicassoCT... I'm no expert on PHP, but that type of thing strikes me as being really heavy on the server's processing cycles...

Anyways... I don't like the idea because it's effectively useless... for example...

Food, Unit Limits, Resources, Tibereum, *craft, Gold, are all used in the topics of articles that discuss the same thing... not to mention when people don't post meaningful topics and such... so you would need to search the bodies of at least the first post...

Anyways, I don't see people posting the same thing as a huge problem, it's basically unavoidable, and people can't be expected to acctually read through 3 years of posts when they show up on the boards... I think a better solution would be for us, as users to NOT BE BASTARDS WHEN THEY DO IT, post a link to the relavant MTR link or previouse post... and make sure we acknolege the idea and basically let discussion happen... thinking about old ideas again isn't a bad thing.
