Three player maps

Post by TechnoTone »

Are there any good three player maps? We've played Cliff Down but we're looking for more.

(We are down to three players in the office for a couple of weeks so we're looking for better maps. :-) )

no, I disagree.

What usually happens in a 3 way FFA is one person sees they have the chance to destroy the other, and they try to do so. What they dont realize is that by focusing on a single player to destroy them they've handed over the game to the 3rd player, who then destroys you and cleans up the rest and wins, having spent the game relatively untouched.

For example in a recent game I was ina 3 way ffa with of of the bee and emil. Emil made the huge mistake of focusing on destroying me. So while I was being pummeled into submission, foe of the bee built up an army of warrior kbots, then marched them into emils base unhindered and destroyed emil with ease. Emil had bene focusing on me and as such he had an unsecured border with foe of the bee, and foe of the bee had not been attacked because I was defending against emil and emil was trying to destroy me.

So when Emil ahd bene utterly routed, foe sent down his armada of kbots into my base, still recoverign from emils prolonged attack.

4 way FFA ftw!

I remember watching a 2v2v2 where every team was complaining in ally chat how the other two teams were ganging up on them : /

FFA is fun because the borders are not as clear as in teamgames.
Imo any map is good as long it is not divided into "team areas" too much.

Canyon Redux-v01
Very cool canyon map. 16x16

Metalheck.
Ok, its a metalmap but only ~2.0 per mex and very small.
The simple metallayout allows fair starting positions...

Anglo Saxon Starfish Redux
Reminds me of BigGameHunters from Starcraft.

Maybe also Hells Teeth:
Very unique layout with "craters" that have metal rings around them

a classic, the original The cold place is a 3ffa map.... takes some to get used to it and not allow porcing.

Sparewood and desert triad are the best.

Archers valley can work too. (but starts must be well distributed).

there is one other map for 3ffa, but its 16x16, so ..

Thanks for all your input everyone. Most of those we already knew about but there's a couple of new ones which we shall have a go at.

Cheers.
