This post explains a concept about a game mode.
The game mode could be possible to use in many different mods.
I personally have never made an attempt to mod anything related to TA:Spring.

Pre-built bases

There is an additional phase, that happens before the main game phase.

Building phase.

In this phase, each player builds a base for him or herself.
Each player is given equal amount of resources, decided by the game host.(*1)
Each team has a certain area in which building of structures may occur. This will be decided by the host also.(*2)
Building is instantaneous, which will save time, but will still consume normal amount of resources.
Commanders will be given access to build everything, only during this phase.
Commanders have an infinite nanolathe range during this phase. This will also save time.
No units may be built, only buildings and defensive structures.

Team members may share resources with each other during this phase.
No units can move during this phase.
There will be a host-decided time limit for the build phase, and "Ready"-buttons such as when normally joining games and placing start locations.



After build phase is over, every setting will revert to its original state, thus enabling normal gameplay from that moment forward.

Special notes:

*1: The relation between starting metal and energy requires careful consideration. So that it will be balanced and fair, allowing any kind of tactics or strategy.

*2: Question: Can this be done in Spring? By this I mean: Defining a certain area in which a certain team can build, and only in that area, until the build phase is over.



I post this because it's just an idea that came into my mind. My main reason for this is, to see what your opinions for it are. What do you think?
If someone with enough modding experience, enough free time and enough interest decides to start making this reality, it'd be marvellous, of course.

Uh, well, I guess you can't simply MOD your way into Mordor.

So, basically, you're asking for a feature from Metal Fatigue's MP. It was kind've an interesting idea (that RTS was full of intesting, but very poorly used, ideas)...

The problem with this idea is pretty simple: you're basically asking for the time and resources to build up a porc. If that's all you want... well, it's not hard to design mods that are easy to porc with during early play, and it's far easier than modifying the game engine ;)

I think another posibility is to write an AI, which could be custumized (by file?) in behavior to build your base. After a certain amount of time, the AI simply stops doing their job (or - because, all the buildings you asked the Ai to build are already built).

I think it surely would be possible to build a porc, but if you did that, you wouldn't have decent enough economy or production to build good offensive forces at the beginning. You have to balance your resources between economy(power plants, factories) and defence.

The mode would make players to do some thinking before building.
It would also speed up the beginning of the game, because building of the first basic things and a few more would be faster in terms of real world time.

This type of thing would be great for the battle-tech/warhammer point buy systems too.
