AI possibility

Post by Pwnedbyryan »

One thing thats really holding the AI back is how hard it is. I was wondering how possible it would be to create an AI like the counterstrike (I believe) AI from OTA. What the ai could do is create a whole set of cheaper units or build a unit in the beginning that gives it automatically large amounts of resources, or possibly both. The retardedness of the AI could be countered by making it cheat, therefore actually making it hard. Just a suggestion!

You can already do this with handicap (effectively), and AIs may already cheat with full radar knowledge and such. Most people don't want an AI that's tough because it cheats, they want an AI that's tough because it's smart. It's just far more interesting in the end.

Both fo you should update your AI's to NTai XE9RC22/KAI 0.2/AI0.7

KAI uses a maphack to get full los.

NTai has a cheat mdoe that gives it 2 extra commanders and 300 handicap (100 is the highest the lobby can set), and full LOS.

Also yes the equivilant of the counterstrike variant of the OTA ai can be done in NTai using custom buildtrees. The better the buildtree is the better the AI simply put.

Also be aware that AI making in OTA wasnt AI making at all, rather lists of units with weights. In spring we have to do everything ourselves, nm telling a unit to go build resources, we have to determien when, what, why, where, what with, and how.

But in the end I agree with arco when he says people want smart AI's and not tough AI's because a smart AI is funner and can be tougher in its own way.

I agree, but I was saying UNTIL such smart AI comes out... maybe we could get something challenging...I'm also pretty sure that my AI's are up to date, they're just not up to par yet :D.

If you can take on two KAIs that are on the same team and have a 100 handycap in either XTA or AA on a flat map like mars or comet catchers, I applaud your ability; because that is by no means easy.

I use KAI because it is the current killer AI at the moment, but most of the aIs play very well right now- as long as you stay within XTA or AA mod, flat map like mars or comet cathers, no ships, minimal aircraft.

If you play by the AI's 'rules' you are in for a challanging game, if you cheat the AI from the beginning by playing a map like islands, or establishing a hidden base in the water and then striking forth with planes there will not be much challange.

NTai's cheat mode lags my computer to the point of not working anymore.. Strider is right, if you can take on two or more KAI's (100% handicap) on comet catcher than you are a skilled player.
