It is becomming quite a hinderance, at times, now that maps are getting bigger and grander, to be limited to only 10 commanders per game. We need to remove this barrier and allow the hosts to decide from now on.

Please answer poll. Thank you.

32 commanders would be perfect. Let us with fast computers and fast connections have some fun!

Mind you, this would open up possiblities for mod makers who are doing unconventional mods that have few units and many players in mind. Say a WW2 mod where every player is their own nation. Mmmm.

A 16 v 16 game would absolutely kick ass. As would a 5 v 5 v 5 v 5 v 5 v 5 (v 2?) game. 32s players is a must. =)

You would have to generalize. The German team could also serve for the player who is playing for example Hungary (and ironically the Guomindang of non-communist China), and Belgium could use the same team as the French, while Britain's team could be used for Poland and all commonwealth members.

If you are willing to make some compromises and still keep a somewhat WWII-ish feeling, you could do with only five teams really: Germany (for all the Axis), Britain (also for France, commonwealth members and all minor European nations fighting Germany), USA (I'm thinking using this for China since even though their army at the time had more Germanized tactics and equipment, it would be confusing for people without that specialized knowledge) and Japan (which could also be used for Siam (Thailand that is), Indian rebels and any other Axis-related Asians, including of course the Japanese puppets of Manchuoku and Menguoku) and finally Soviet (for all Commies).

Man that would be an awesome mod. You could use a huge map representing earth and have every player start in their individual country they are playing, and then go totally nuts. *dreams on*

nah, you have 6 German players, several British players, several Soviet players, etc., the players become theater commanders.

the only ones who would get their own nations would be Italians, Romanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Finnish, Belgians, etc.

Gimme a bigger map size limit, I give you a better Altored Earth. It's already the very maximum the engine can handle at that scale (2 wide by 1 tall or whatever it is)... even now shadows don't work on it for some reason.

this would be very nice for Epic EE, because that way there are plenty of spots. For example. in Epic EE conqurors isle is the equivalent of a 72x72 map.

it doesnt have to be the usual north vs south.
In the original TA there was some game-mode called "Deathmatch" or something, after your commander died it would spawn again.
You only got points for taking out enemy commanders.
This way a 10+ player FFA could be quite fun, I imagine...
