not really Bruce.

Basically as I'm the writter, the article says that Spring is a really good game, taking the best of TA and improving upon it.

As for my pages on advices, they are basic advices (I'm a wargamer though, so I can speak strategy in general, like no over defence, do combined arms, do recon b4 attacking, build your econ but balance with military, etc.), as I'm by far not a very good Spring player, just average.

But the aim is just to let Spring be known to 8000 readers, with some chances 1% will log-in and play a bit. Fresh blood anyone? :P

Wow.

Any chance of spotlighting some of the other mods, such as SWS/WD/Spring1944/FF/ETC?

Even just links would be nice, but screenshots would be awesome.

Grrr, remove the Total Annihilation part from the name. It's going to alienate us from some other playing groups (like starcrap for example).

I would really hate if this game's downfall ended up being 2 words.

I loved OTA, but there were a good many people that because of word of mouth didn't like it at all. Either that or it was to foreign at the time for them to understand fully.

Grr, we really need to break away from that and go to Spring, Spring RTS or something like that.

See my thread "The Spring Project".

Some people are VERY attached to the TA legacy.

"Total Annihilation : Spring" looks like an official game expansion pack to Total Annihilation

Truth, but on the other hand, the project's founders and original developers are all located in Sweden, the country without copyright law ^^

Zaphod and others are in the Netherlands (that's such a crazy name for a country. I always want to call it the Nether Regions... annnyway..) and I'm not too sure about how strict they are there, but I have the general feeling that they aren't as aggressive as the 'States.

Besides, just the fact that the developers are in a different country basically means years of deliberation and paperwork before anyone in the other country will bother to pay any attention.

Not quite :|
The server is in Sweden but they do have copyright law.
You can link to copyrighted material via this server without breaking a law, but you can't host it on this server.

They can be anal about those things here to, but it's not like we are running a warez hideout or something.

Nederland, Holland, The low lands, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kingdom of Holland, United Provinces, Batavian Republic, Seventeen Provinces.
Nether Regions... sounds fine with me. :-)

More press is always good! Thanks for making an effort to spread the word. However I do think the project really needs to get away from the Total Annihilation label. All of the people I have shown spring too don't have any idea what TA is. I always have to explain the history behind the game. Also the name TA:Spring doesn't really convey that Spring is actually a game engine which can run several mods. </slightly off topic> Also, where are the beautiful IceXuick/aGorm/FA maps in those screenshots??!!! (there are some dead sexy ones on the screenshots page)
