Why are signatures disabled on this board? If it's because you're afraid (for good reason) of people posting big pics and stuff in there, you could just make a rule that says NO PICTURES IN YOUR SIGNATURE and put it in the php code for the profile page. I'd do it for you if you like.

The reason I ask is that I'd like to put a few things in there such as:

"Disclaimer: I'm usually wrong."

This would really help cover my ass, and save me the time of typing it every time I post

AFIAK the reason we don't have signitures is simply because SJ(or the sy's?) doesn't like them... My moderator profile has a box for signitures so I assume that the forum is capable of running them if they are turned on, but the forums just don't have them on.

Please do not enable signatures. They serve no real purpose and I hate forum's where someone posts "Yes" and you have to scroll half a screen to get past his signature :?
There are already avatars to recognize posters.

"Disclaimer: I'm usually wrong."
This is already well know to us.
No need for a signature here

I'd like to have signatures, but with very strict controls on size and appropriateness. That said, the SYs don't want signatures, and it's their forum. :P

My sig would be as follows:

READ...<Whatever story I'm working on now>. And it would be a link. You know...just for some free adverts.

signatures would not be long. Curiously enough, if you edit your profile you will see that you can add up to a 100-character signature, even though they are disabled. 100 characters is not very long.

I find this board much cleaner and an easier read than most because of the lack of signatures.

Thats true. I have seen some really crapyastic siggy's. Like...say...some very obcsen, craptastic siggy's. And some pointless and gratitus ones. But just a quick, little one?

Or, hell, we can write our own damn sigs! Its as easy as 1, 2, get the hell out of your chair.

As such, I will demonstrate:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I'm cool.

I used to be pro sig, but now I must say I love clean sigless boards (basically just this one) way too much to even consider having one.

I like this clean board as well. Though a little larger (notably min filesize) avatars would be nice.

I know whis avatar suggestion has been around for a while.

----------------------------------

My awesome amazing fork killling SLAUGHTERFEST!

Code: Select all

My awesome amazing fork killling SLAUGHTERFEST!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7833398972420320944&q=fork+killer

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1542812941055320227&q=fork+killer
215 characters, that is over twice the current signature cap.

Mine would be this:

Code: Select all

Ambition is the fire of the will, the spur to the horse, and the arm wielding the flashing sword
96 characters.

Ideally, it would be:

Code: Select all

Ambition is the fire of the will, the spur to the horse, and the arm wielding the flashing sword
-Clan Proverb
Unfortunately, that is 109 characters, 9 over the limit :?

If we did sigs here I'd want them minimalist. Maby a maximum of 100 pixles vertical height and a small text cap.

I hadn't even noticed sigs was off, but now that you say it...

Not much to gain by enabling them anyway. Just keep as is., it's fine this way.
