New map: Risk

Post by jj »

This is my second board-game map.
We already had Monopoly and now we have Risk!
This is not the original Risk map but an alternative one.
The map size is 24x18
This world count six continents, and each one has the same metal amount.
The coasts are suitable for hovercrafts.
Its only a beta version, i have to fix a few little details.
you can download it here:
http://www.fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=3393
I hope you will enjoy it!

They don't have to be any of the above, but why try to make a political statement with a map? That's just stupid.

About as stupid as releasing 50 new verisons of speedmetal.

I agrea with forb, because I do not want to hear some half cocked political aggenda. I want to play a game so that, for a moment I can escape all the political bullshit.

Funny that, especially seen as it is the opposite view of your own politics, the both of you.

Don't play it if you don't like it, don't try and censor its creation.

If you are gonna make a monopoly board then I wanna se park place and boardwalk, ffs. Yet instead he makes a political statement out of it which is just childish and retarded. It's a fricking map, I wanna have fun on it not jsut read a bunch of bullshit.

I skipped a download on Monopoly because of that as well... what was wrong with an original Monopoly board? I don't actually mind politics in my games... but in this case it sort of put me off.

Either way, this isn't really the thread for this. This map looks awesome.

Flozi it is a matter of target audience. If JJ wants to reach more players then something like that needs to be omited.

It is like me making a map called N*GGERLOVER and expecting people to ignore the name and just play the map.

I think the different countries should have different metal values.

Do i get it right that Politics are forbiding.. uhem forbidden. Then how about Advertising .. If i use Parts of the Skybox and rent them to Co(r/k)e or Pepsi. Or if if integrate into the Tarrain an Add for Hamsterdriven Chainsawas, or sth like that.
How about the before metioned SubPsychological Mapping... means mapping things (e.g. a Cookie) into the Terrain you don`t see clearly, but who is there and influence you Playing ?
Those thing could get people hungry if they conquer it.

you understood the point don't be sarcastic.

So, yeah this map is neat! One thing would have been even better, I noticed some of the maps have elevation maps and some don't that means players starting on certian countries will be victim to the f1 exploit. please consider fixing this.

Imho, the problem with Monopoly is that it's _already_ a monopoly board. That's whacked out enough for a TA map. Using a political-humour monopoly board is then mixing your bizarrity.

It would be perfectly legitimate to make a map out of something like this:
Image

but in the case of Monopoly, it seems silly to double-up the "political humour" map and the "board game" map theme.

And where the heck did you find the source image for this bizarro risk map?

Oh, and do Cosmic Encounter next.

edit: fyi, the water is too shallow - I tried building a sub-pen in the interior to build amphibs and found out that my advconsub was stuck.

I'd like the real Risk map, at some point. Much more fun, considering...

Why don't we do another Earth map, like Altored_Earth but with more metal and terrain?

Anyone else think Jesusland is hilarious?

But I never liked board game maps. It just doesn't feel right with the units...but that might be the appeal. I guess I'm just out of the loop.
