3 Newbie questions regarding build speeds/resources
Hi, I have couple of questions (regarding XTA game mode)
1) if you build assist, do you pay the same resources for structure/unit or do you pay more?
2) is there a different rate of building and repairing or assisting unit build for different units? Or does unit that is better at building work equally well at repairing? (Is there repair bonus/building penalty for healer turrets?)
3) can you list 3 best units for building/repairing?

(Ack, misread the question.)Licho wrote:1) if you build assist, do you pay the same resources for structure/unit or do you pay more?
I believe better construction units work better for building, reclaiming, and repairing.2) is there a different rate of building and repairing or assisting unit build for different units? The building costs the same, but you use more resources in a shorter time.Licho wrote:1) if you build assist, do you pay the same resources for structure/unit or do you pay more?

All the units/structures have a fixed cost
All the constructions units and factories have a certain rate at which they can build
Construction units told to help build will use resources at their own rate
Each rate changes dependinmg on what they're building because each unit/structure has different costs and build times.
so if you're helping a factory with a zillion construction planes the rate at which the unit it's building will be very high and the unit will be made in no time at all, but it won't cost any more in total. the only extra 'cost' is in the metal/energy per second needed to suport the very high rate of building.
if your builders are trying to use more metal/energy per sec than you are making/getting then they nanostall and the building slows down.
sort of confusing at first i suppose
. play for a bit and you'll figure it out.

Figure you've got this bucket, right? And you've got this sand. And, uh, more sand being delivered at regular intervals. Er... anyway. You pour the sand in the bucket. It don't matter how fast you pour it in, it'll always need the same amount to be full, but if you pour it in too fast you'll run out and have to wait for the next delivery.

Screw you all.

This should also be followed by 'and you've run out of reserves'. Just because you are operating at a net loss doesn't mean building slows down, as that only happens when your storage is empty. You can spend faster then it comes in for a short period of time if you have sufficient capacity.unpossible wrote: If your builders are trying to use more metal/energy per sec than you are making/getting then they nanostall and the building slows down.

i've really never thought about how complicated it must seem to someone who doesn't get how it works
i am scared!
reclaiming = buildpower of the best builder (90% sure)
best builder = the mods XTA and AA have special "support builder" units, I do not remember the names though, they are build in the Level 2 K-Bot Factory.
They can start no/little constructions of their own but their cost/buildpower ratio is the best I guess.
Nano-Turrets are coolest though!

Ok so, constuction/repair speed of each builder unit is defined in something like "structural build time/time".
And this number is used for everything except reclaiming. If I repair something that has 50% HP it's HP translates to original "build time" and then relative speed of repair unit is used again, right?
That's interesting, I willt ry to find or calculate these speeds for some builders and post it here...

For AA, you can get the buildtimes from the Unit Guide. (They're the "Nano Speed" entry.)
Yeah, I checked AA's database .. and conclusion?
Nothing beats commander in build speed - it has 300, lvl2 ship has 250, lvl2 vehicle 200, lvl2 bot 140, lvl2 airplane 100. (Lvl1 build units have half of this value).
Fark only has 120 in AA!
Nano turret is in mid-range with 150.
Lvl1 factories have 100, lvl2 200.
Best option for construction assist unit would be ship, it builds quickly and is cheap, but of course, least flexible. Fark builds faster than lvl2 kbot builder, so it should be preffered build assist worker if you have bots.
Nano turrets are not bad, they have more HP than farks, but build times are significantly longer.
Knowing your nano speed allows you to easilly calculate how long will it take to build something (assuming you have metal/energy for it). Simply divide build time of some structure by nano speed and you will get time you need in seconds..
