So I thought I'd chip in some screen shots... to show I'm not being bone Idle and Lazy...

I've been remaking (well... more just nicking teh name and the look, its ganno be very differnt to play...) Acidbridge, called AcidRedux

Its smaller, wont make it porker heaven, and will look a darn site nicer...

And has a nice new skybox to boot...

PS, all shots have a link to a full size version underneath...

Add mroe variations tot he purple texture so it's more bluish with bits of darker blue/violet in it rather than the bright pinky/purple it is atm.

Or even better go for a very dark blue with blueish highlights, it'd go extremely well with the water and skybox.

The terrains more a blue/grey anyway... thats justt he current lighting (which probablie needs changing!!! :-) ) Suggestions for asetics are welcome (as its not that hard to change things at the mo...)

Oh, and yhe Noise, of course they dont there realy early shots. And if u've played acid bridge you'd know roughly what it would be like.

skybox is nice however.

could you give me a link or tell me how to make your own skybox? Would really like to use that!

OK more shots... (one one's I wernt going to bother showing...)

Realy borring shot of my loverly detail texture (sorry, But I'm just proud that I got that to work so U can just ignor this shot... :-) )

Shot of the island and the VERY UNFINISHED, MILES TO SMALL bridge, notice I've pointed out he bridge is not done. So dont coment on it...

Does that give you a better Idea?


Things to do:
Widen bridge alot... (easy) and make it look good (hard)
Create flater building areas (easy)
Add in features (medium...ish)
Add in terain type (easy)
Make a decent metal map for it... (hardest part)

So its alot of work to do...

The spikes would look much better if they were actual crystal s3o feature instead of spikes in the heightmap. Also, try to think of new name.

I forgot to mention I was gonna do that... but glad someone agrees :-)

But... whats wrong with the name? 1) Redux sounds cool... and two it actully means somthing. (means bringing back in laymans terms...)

Acid bridge gives us the impression fo green water, and light brown ground with gas bag plants, nto purple etc, that looks more like a crystal map (though without the crystalline stuff)

Imo the pinky purple colour is horrible it made the original look tacky, but I like that detail tex...

OK, Imgoing to (gasp) listen to people for once... I've removed the purple!!!

Im doing some tests now, but its a kinda greyish yurk colour, with brownish water (a bit like a river with lots of iron). I have to admit it looks kinda funky... And will fit with my bridge plans lot better...

However I have to do some fiddeling with the heightmap, and alter teh texture a bit, so I wont show any progress shots for a few days...

blue black grey

not

purple pink

or

grey violet pale grey

the new colours are better but they dotn go with the skybox nearly as well as other colours would...

And change the water colour back..

If the terreain was black mate you would not be able to see it against the sky...

And yes, so there was a little violet itt hat shot, but thats because I didn't rerender it as of yet, or photoshop it, So the few purple bits of terrain still look purple. Obviosly I'd edit that out if iI kept the new colour schem.

Oh and your the one that wanted teh water change...

Also... WHY AM I A MUPPET?!?!?

Anyway, I'll prob revert it to purple, just not quite so vivid...

And there will be crystal stuff on it, so maybe its just my name thats at fault? If it was Crystal Bridge, would you be complaining?

OMG RESSING OLD THREAD.

Anyway, after someone pointed out I never finished this I thought... why not?

So I got busy with finding all the old junk and started to hash it together...

I'm seriosly considering changing it to a deep blue purple (as oposed to the classic purple of OTA ones...) but as teh crystals I am working on for it are currently purple I did it to match...

This may very well be one of the longest maps coming ever... But with feedback I can make it!

So.. purple, or do you think its to garish and a blue(er) colour would work?

OF COURSE it should be purple!
there are already enough grey and brown and brown-green maps.
as long as you can still the unit's color, its fine.
is there a download or overhead (full view of the layout)?
