Thanks to whoever cleaned up and optimized the shaders in v.70b3. I can run reflective lighting as well as shading on my units now and it actualy works right. My 128MB AGP Geforce 4 Ti4200 isn't obsolete yet.

On the flipside, my GF6800GT can't run shadows at all without massive slowdowns - even with only the commanders around. Simply turning them on lags my cursor and nets me sub-20 fps.

Well I am happy that I can finally run shadows in full-screen mode...unfortunatly the game is still very slow....

on a GF6800GT? What kind of processor/ memory do you have? you're duppose to run spring decent with shadows enabled with a card like that.
(also, how clean is your windows?)

AMD643200+ and 1 gb ram. Fairly clean, I do a driver cleanup when updating video drivers too.

Seems this shadow slowdown was introduced with the 0.70 code - I didn't have such massive slowdowns in earlier versions. However I'll test around some today to verify it 100%. :)

somthings wrong then. i have a 6800gt and a p43.4GHz with 1 GB ram and i can pull out 70 fps with full settings
try to diable the vsync setting, it helps a whole lot. go to the
right click on desktop, go to properties, settings tab, advanced button, then the tab for the 6800, performance and quality setttings on the side then turn verticle sync off.
that help a lot and you dont notice any visual change

Yeah, I've got vsync off. Although if you're running an LCD monitor it'll help immensively with tearing, so it's not exactly pointless.

I mucked around a little and found out that it's running just as bad on the old builds, so it's probably something that cropped up sometime between when I played 0.6x and 0.7x. I'm going to try changing around some more settings.

I'd say check your drivers, then if it still is slow, completely unistall spring(save the downloaded maps and mods) and do a fresh install.

For me the specs are: AMD Athlon 1.67GHz on a Shuttle motherboard with a nforce 2 chipset., 512mb RAM(1.5GB pagefile size), 128MB AGP8X Geforce 4 Ti4200 running a Envision 19" LCD on DVI at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz refresh rate(32 bit). 70-75fps normal with almost all settings max.
