AA 1.44 air (and more) balancing.

Post by Rimburner »

Okay, let's start from the top. This mutation is to try to make aircraft more realistic, in my opinion anyway.

Changes on the drawing board:

Damage boosts to all aircraft, increase will be proportional to the HP drop.
Increase the range of all fighter's missiles so they are JUST inside an MT's range before getting shot at.
More to come, please FEED ME!!

Changes made:

Every ARM aircraft has had a HP nerf, and the Mercury long-range missile tower is about 1/3 of the price and build 3x as fast.

More stuff to come, but please, tell me what you think of this and why you think that. It will help me be a better person.

y put so much energy in just a mutator? I don't know if there's gonna be enough ppl to play it

On the other hand.. Mutators allow for different gameplay, and can be used very easily. Maybe we can think of a system along the lines of UT, where u can choose between mutators before starting a game?

It isn't really taking a whole lot of effort, I've changed most of the aircraft's maxdamage tags aleady, and have changed the price of the long-range missile towers. Scouts are cheaper, faster and fly higher aswell, so It isn't a big deal. The files are less than 1MB and are selected just like any other mod in the Lobby aswell, so switching isn't hard either. And to guessmyname about the mutator piling, only one can be active at once on Spring, a mutator is more of a mod to a mod, rather than a tweak to just one unit.

err, i don't know how good of an idea this is. i can understand making them a little cheaper and faster to build but not that much, it would render air completely useless. one of those rockets can take out a whole group of brawlers if they are clumped up together, or any group of airplanes as a matter of fact. if you're going to make them that cheap, make their rockets weaker too.

i know that they take a while to fire but built one and then two to three flaks around it and it'll be a pain to take out with air. you can attack with ground or nukes or something longrange, but if a player is dominint on air and its behind the lines, itll take a huge toll on his forces. air is fragile as it is anyways.

In OTA air was far to powerful, in AA I think air-only attacks have a hard time winning a game alone since the anti-air capabilities of towers/structures are so good. I think the balance needs to be shifted away from static air air defenses (especially adv. missile towers) and more towards airplane vs airplane battles.

I dunno. Making the adv.missile towers better is just a terrible idea.

wow you said it was good before realising what the changes meant.
he is making planes less HP, more spammable
he is increasing the power of AA to make up for this
i think its damn stupid as 1.45 is just around the corner, but i have nothing against it i guess.

Next AA version will be out really soon, you'd be better off to wait for it.
