Tetris DS

Post by SinbadEV »

Must Have for any DS owner who likes tetris... 6 different "modes" be we're not talking like crappy modes like tetris worlds and tetris elements, we're talking crazy s**t... like the "catch" version, where instead of rotating pieces, you rotate the field and are trying to get 4x4 blocks and blow up metroids... or a "puzzle" tetris... clear all the blocks with just 3 pieces, or "push", where you and an opponent are fighting on the same field (you from the top and them from the bottom, and clearing multi-lines shifts them closer to the "bottom" (the top from their perspective)...

Throw in flawless, single cart, wireless mutliplayer, "standard", "touch" and "mission" modes as well as challenging CPU opponents in some of the "designed for multiplayer"... and priced at a "greatest hits" low $35 (canadian)... it's a pick up and play classic everyone should look into.

I just beat "Marathon" Mode of standard tetris... which got me the credits and unlocked "Endless Marathon" Mode...

but then again, I'm kinda biased... tetris and I go way back... and the awsome retro-NES theming doesn't hurt...

I hate tetris but I find this game surprisingly enjoyable, even addictive. The standard game mode vs CPU is great fun and addictive, while the push mode is just plain awesome. I wonder how long they were sitting on the ideas for these variations, waiting for the right time to put them to use.

You must be positively psychotic to be able to get that many lines though. My highest is 45 or something like that in marathon. Beyond the 35th level or so I just got a lucky streak of good pieces, the exact ones I needed, otherwise I'd have been out very soon after.

Again, I hate tetris yet I have the "one more turn" syndrome while playing this version. Highly recommended for any DS user.
