I noticed after playing the original TA that the minimap draws projectiles as they cross the map; but Spring does not. Does anyone else miss that? I think it might come in handy when multitasking to see exactly where a battle is taking place.
It would be very nice if we had indeed.
Spring does show the nanoligth and explosions on the minimap. So why not projectiles as well.
Also, the nuke, actiny-nuke, cruize missles arn't showed on the minimap.
In OTA they are shown as a cross in the team color.
This won't require a player to zoom out and look where his nuke is to know when it will inpact, thus can do other things.
So more suggestions/requests for the new GUI (if any)
The main thing that's missing is that you cannot give move orders or force-fire orders via the minimap. That takes away a lot've the strategic control structure of OTA, and I've been missing it since Spring was released.
The very first thing I wanted to do with spring when I heard that it might support dual monitor setups was to fire up a game, and have the minimap as one entire screen, and issue waypoints and such through there while handling more tactical and resource issues from the main one.
I see not why a groupAI cant allow selection and movement of units using an area of the map left empty to project a 3D minimap with blips etc, it just wont have weapons fire and shadows/map texture on it thats all
