Who's giving these out all of a sudden? And why the hell haven't I got one?

Me, but I think I should remove them again, since there are just to modders and mappers around.

I'm guessing it's zaphods doing after he discovered a few new forum features when he was trying to figure out how to mod me :P

Clearly I have been ripped off as well. :-)

^^, just give out the mdoder and mapper titles to the most productive people then, such as foreboding angel/aGorm/runecrafter/GroundZero/Caydr/Smoth off the top of my head....

I think titles are helpfull if the person granted the titles is willing to answer n00bs questions regarding their titles... for example if a n00b sees a "Map Maker" he will know that he can PM him with map making questions... or that that persons answers on the subject in a forum topid are deffinitive... If I could choose a title for myself it woulf be "Wiki Enthusiast".

I second all of Alantai's nominations, and I would also like to nominate Genblood as a Map Maker as well. Sinbad's idea is also very good too.

Please don't, make it quality before quantity.

I think a few of Gen Bloods maps are quite good. And most of the 'problems' with his maps are mostly stylistic in nature (like on the CORE proto planet thingy. The map was fine, it just looked fugly)

Genblood isn't the most talented mapper in spring but usually his work is pretty consistantly decent quality. Really the only low quality map I can think of by him was that wierd core proto whatever map.

To be perfectly honest his work looks rushed and largely incomplete. I have some of his maps only because of his layouts.. but I do not consider them complete... this alone is more complete when compared to any of the guys' work. The only consistency I have seen was one poor implementation after the next, good layouts but NO taste.. I do not think he has the expertise to be an individual I would recommend to noobs as a source of worthwhile information.

As far as titles go, they tend to go to people's heads. I am happy being some snarky guy on the forum with useful skills/knowledge. However, I am not one for ego stroking and should the time ever come that the titles cause friction in the community, I would be happy if you removed mine. I really do not like the way many people act about online recognition.

I do agree that we don't need so many custom titles floating about. However, if someone is an absolute guru in a field and generally willing to help people with their problems I think they should definitely get one. Well, maybe ask them first. Take Zwzsg for example, I'm sure there is no doubt in anyone├óÔé¼Ôäós mind that he is the bos/cob guru of all TA, and definitely is deserving of a title saying such. And after all the praise he has already received, I seriously doubt it is possible for it to go to his head :P .

Also, you mods need, no choice in the matter, to have that you are mods and/or client mods in your titles. Yes, this is very much a matter of hierarchy, you are in charge, and until someone of greater power changes that new people need to know that at first glance. It also is a matter of clearing up confusion when you have to use said powers, and information so people know who to pester about "issues" of various types.

And yes, expect in increase of pm's from having it, its part of the burden of your servitude.

exactly why I didn't want a title, I would have to stop being snarky.
