PLANT has to be in all caps or plants think they are vehicles.

I don't know much about TEDclasses, but isn't it "Total Annihilation Editor Class"? The only thing this tag affects, IN MY VERY VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE is what category things appear in when you're placing features/units in map editors. Forgive my gross ignorance if I'm incorrect.

as far as i know, they have effect in spring too. When i remember correct, i needed the TED class for 2 things:

1. they effect the orders a unit can handle (for example reclaim and repair)

2. they effect the building ability of a unit (a plant can build on a different way than a constructor)

If I'm right, you should be able to duplicate it. Last night I made Xect vs. Mynn an all lower-case mod, and my factories went screwy, thinking they were immobile units. Switched plant back to uppercase, and all was good. I think it's like the dgun weapon name having to include DISINTEGRATOR.

If this is true it would explain why the Galactic Gate factories for TA:CTF wouldn't work. Shame I can't test it because I'm on the laptop

TED Class is also heavily used by OTAI to categorize units, or at least it was in many of the earlier versions it may have changed by now.

Gate thinks its a plant now, so the theory is correct (though I don't think the script is as it wouldn't build anything...)
