I had TA installed before Spring, even though that doesn'et matter. Someone told me that i had to have the expansions installed (CC - didn't say BT though). I did some forum searching and found that false, and that spring is actually stand alone.
Anyway, Whenever i start to play the TASclient runs fine, the game loads up fine but when it gets to the game itself (Viewing the ground) it becomes so laggy that i cannot scroll the screen or type without each thing i do having a five second delay or so. So this ends up waiting for a long time for no reason.
I figured it was a messed up installation, Fresh install after complete uninstall (directory deleted) and still nothing. I have a screen shot which might help you guys locate the actual problem and in what scripting file it is in. From memory it has to do with the AI PFS script, the SIM time, the unit handler and loaders, and i only get 1 FPS.
I have an:
AMD 64 3000+ 1.8GHz
Geforce FX 6600GT PCIEX x16 128 mb 128 bit
1.5 GB ram PC3200 (I have 4 slots but no money. :/ )
etc
I mean, i don't think it is the specs, it is something to do with the compatability or programming.
Did you ever try turning off some of the "expencive" settings? Some of the check boxes in settings.exe can grind a fast computer to a halt, bacause most of them depend on the graphics card. Try running settings.exe and turning off all of the check boxes except Full screen. That might fix it. Also it might help if you turn down some of the sliders.
According to those cpu stats you should be getting good results with all the settings up max, I can get more than 10 fps with all settings at max and that computer is a monster compared to mine.
Have you thought the problem isnt spring but rather other programs hogging cpu time? I've a friend who ahd a faster computer than mine but ti ran like a 200mhz running 3.1 and he didnt udnerstand why all his games where running slow, so i went round and cleared out what was the biggest spyware infestation I've ever seen. We ran ad-aware SE several times and rebooted and each time ti got a minimum of 700 items quarantined, he had like 70 processes running at any one time mostly thru spyware/adware.
After which his computer ran fine.
Another person i knew was tryign tog t spring runnign and said ti was painfully slow, but then he realized his computer was jampacked full fo viruses and trojans and other malware, and started considering a full hd reformat and re-installation of XP.
You should be able to run 99.999% of all the games ever mad for the PC aswell as a miriad of console roms, yet spring runs at 1 fps? Somethign si seriously wrong with that setup.
Aside from that, try updating your drivers, directx runtime, latest patches from windows update etc...

Hmm, I think that should not be a problem, but it might be.
I run under win XP pro (non 64 bit) despite my AMD64 3500+
The number for lag in the .info screen is NOT milliseconds.
200ms would be perfectly playable.
Its frameticks. (which means that >30 == 1second, i.e. worse than even dialup should be without being bandwith restrained.
i run the game on 4 pcs. only one of them is better than what you have there. def try to install 2000 or regular xp on a seperate partition. if youre not running SLI or anything like that, stick with 2000. XP is a resource hog and I wouldnt be using it if 2000 supported SLI.
download adaware se, spybot: search and destroy, spysweeper trial, and hijackthis. install all of those, update them and then reboot into safe mode and check for spyware, adware, etc. there is no reason that pc should run that slow.
open up task manager and click on the processes tab. start spring and see what else is running when spring opens. close all the programs that you dont need before starting spring.
honestly, i think it XP 64 thats messing up your game. it may be viruses and spyware but if youre only experiencing it in spring, id balme windows.
Well, i would happily beta or be your 64bit doll or something, but i don't really have another 32bit i want to go back too.
I recently picked up Earth 2160 and run it all high settings max 1280x1024 and it runs smooth. So i would say that narrows it down to (POSSIBLY) spyware, viruses, corruption, or the simple fact that is doesn't understand the source which was written in a 32bit enviroment (I read up that the source code is a bit sloppy) and i would assume that the trouble lies in there.
Ahh well, i will definately try to get another os to partition once i have more space and an actual OS to change too.
I don't want to use windows, but i still want to atleast play all my games.
None of the other oses really offer an acceptable NON-windows OS that can provide what windows does.
