Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory.

Post by Chrispin »

What is the deal with that? I can't play TASpring now. The new lobby update wont work for me. Okay, this is what I do. I try to log on, the update popup comes up, I download it,and then it asks me to open this file. I click yes and it comes up with this:

Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory. Please try again later.

Well, the update worked on my freinds computer so I know that if I wait later, nothing will happen. Plus I tried for 2 days. What could be the problem?

Dang.. I figuered it out. If I'm right, the newest update for spring does not work on Windows 98. Yes, unfortunatly I have only Windows 98. Sometimes the game will work with 98 and sometimes it doesn't depending on how good the update is. They need to pay more attention to what the updates include. It always seems that once they fix one problem, another is created.

98?!? new computer time. $300 will buy a computer that will play Spring, here in the US. Sorry, I know that's rude, but I just don't see why anybody running 98 would even want to TRY running Spring... your FPS must be terrible, even at low rez...

Playing on 98 really aint so bad. As long as you have a good enough vidio card and plenty of memory, then it works just find. Comparing it to my freind's WindowsXP computer, it really is about the same quality. The connection and frame rate are the same. The only thing is I don't think that 98 can handle hosting up to a 6 player game. It gets kinda laggy there probably because of 98's coding and stuff.
And right now I have about $600 to spare on whatever. The only thing is that it's too hard for me to spend any of it. I like to save up. But now that I think of it.. a new computer is something for me to save up for. Although.. if I'm getting a new computer, I may as well get a $1000 one because there is no use getting one that won't benefit me in the future. Who knows what high quality games will be released. And why am I telling all of you about this? Oh well, that's all I got to say I guess.
P.S. or a harder, but possibly less expensive way to get ahold of a good computer is to add on to mine. But I'm too lazy to see exactly what my computer needs to play a good game. Changing out all the parts would cost extra money. And here we go again.. talking out everything in my mind.
