Open GL Extension Missing

When I connect to a game I get a message at the top of my screen that says "Missing needed Open GL extension." The map loads, but I am exited from the game after a few seconds. Help?

What graphics card do you have? Do you have shadows and/or reflections and/or 3d trees turned on in the settings? If so, try turning them off one by one to see if the game loads. If it still doesn't play with all the settings turned off, your graphics is not capable of running the game.

Also, try updating your vid card drivers to latest version (ati just released 6.1 cat drivers)

Make sure you also have latest direct X. Microsoft just released a new update last month.

If you have anything less than a 64 MB, I would consider upgrading. Doesn't have to be latest and greatest. Get a vid card that is over a year or 2 old. A good deal is to get an old geforce or an old ati 9600xt or 9800xt. New egg has some great prices on those cards and they aren't half bad.

I got the 256 mb 9600xt and it runs my games great. I can't do super highest settings on hl 2, but on my lcd moniter with 1024x768, I really don't care too much. Cost a little over 100 bucks too for a vid card that used to cost 300 and 500 three years ago, respectively.
