Aircraft with Turrets..

Post by Fanger »

Now im not sure what is going on here but any aircraft that has turrets but does not fly like a gunship displays some very strange firing behavior. The turret does not, lets say track the target... leading to it turning to one spot then firing away as the aircraft is moving. This causes such fun things as shots coming out the back of turrets, side, at queer angles..etc... and its not just in FF (ie its not just me) The anti air turrets on the bombers in AA and more than likely XTA and any other mod also do this.. Is this an engine thing, or are we scripting something wrong here.. cause this looks silly...

Oh couple of other problems with aircraft... if you give them a forward firing missile weapon, they dont seem to realize they need to break off the target.. this doesnt show up in other mods but in FF it is blaring after i added a new unit, it would plow into a larger ship firing and get stuck trying to turn around but unable to turn through the ship.. so it would just push it around..

We need some engine functionality in the way of setting up different types of attack patterns for aircraft and added functionality for gunships beyond making them gunships... its really limited and any sort of game/mod that wants to use aircraft heavily will find out they are extremely limited very fast...

i seen that aiming problem millions of times !
there should be some check that the weapon really is aimed to that direction...

u seen annihilators fire in wrong direction ? it aims otherway and beam just goes wrong direction... the beam should follow the model/aim more precicely 8)
