Crash after some time with various BA and Spring versions

Post by 7Saturn »

I was hoping, the problem will eventually subside with newer versions. But it didn't, so I have to ask here. I'm playing BA for a while now, and with the versions 8.00, 8.06, 8.10, 8.15, 9.05 and also with latest 9.07, using Spring versions 96, 98 and latest 100, I experience random crashes. So I believe, something of my setup must be wrong. Either the maps, the used Bots or something about my hardware. It's happening on Win 7 x64 as well as with Ubuntu 14.04 x64. It seems to be related either with the length of a match, or the number of actions. If I add three AAI-Bots, I might have a chance to end the match without a crash. But at least, when there are more than 5 AAI-Bots at work, after some time, the game crashes. When I take a metal rich map, like one of the speed metal maps, it happens earlier. If I take one with only small amounts of metal, it takes a little longer. But after 15-20 minutes, I'm out. Any ideas of what's going wrong here?

Hi! Thank you for the feedback.

After crash on windows, could you please provide (share) your infolog.txt file? paste it to http://pastebin.com/ for example and give us a link.

Spring writes this "infolog.txt" and after crash this file contains a crash related info.

thank you for the information!

Looks like it is related to AAI bot itself. Reported it here (for spring engine developers): https://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=4948

It's worth trying other AIs - I suggest you give KAIK or RAI a go, they might not crash for you.

I'm already on it. However, RAI usually simply kicks my ass. =) But I'll try crashing them, by letting them play against themselves. With AAI this wasn't to difficult.
