Why is search now only available from the forums?

Wasn't there once a search link at the top? Now I have to go to a forum section, click advance etc to search the forum

For me its in the quick links menu at the top (maybe you have to log in to see it?)

Each forum and topic also has a search box next to the new topic button too as well. Not sure why the phpbb people decided not to put a search box on category view though.
