Would spring benefit from a dataview like sim city has one?
Decolour all the objects in the world and then recolour them depending on data?

Yes and it has them already (metal/height, etc.) map modes.
It's also possible to draw images afaik.
JK's work towards making infolog textures available is the right way and hopefully we'll be able to influence ground drawing more in the future.

You could do magical texture-based shading even before jK made it this much easier, too.

Also, did you ever check what happens in ZK when you press reclaim?

The idea is to not craft one info shadder widget by widget, but one general info layer shadder that is easy customizeable by widgets using it..
