Digital Art and Photoshop
Digital Art and Photoshop? I'll start off by saying that I'm a Chemistry major. This might sound stupid, but I wanting to use photoshop to make a cool profile picture for FaceBook. I have an idea in mind, but I don't know how to make it using Photoshop.

Post a rough sketch - also photoshop is not that difficult.. its basically just painting lots of pictures layed over each other - using the blendmodes for each layer too make them look consistent + some of the inbuilt effects.. also there are other gfx_programs

Depends on what you want to make. Want to make a painting or drawing? A tablet would be great help, but I've gone without those and it works fine. If you're trying to make slick, clean lineart, try using the pen tool and then stroke/fill the path. At first using the pen tool will feel weird, but basically all you need to do is connect dots (or points) together into lines, then use the "convert point tool" (looks like an incomplete triangle) to make them curvy. This is also a way to make cel-shaded art if you're looking for something like that.
Or are you trying to add some cool and realistic effects? There's tons, and I mean tons of tutorials on specific effects (like fire, acid, rust, etc.) out there on the net, just open google and type away.
If you're really trying to get into it (and not just playing around with photoshop), keep practicing!

Nice of you too answer, but this is likely a bot or spam. Only one post and already something pretty irrelevant.
