I had an idea, but before I built it I wanted to know if people thought it was worth doing.
A section of springinfo where people could upload screenshots, then tag as belonging to a game or category ( or a bug report ).
Other users could then up vote screenshots and they would appear in top listings for their game.
The most voted of all time could then be pulled into the media page on this site alongside those selected. The page would remain up to date for as long as the service is used, and people would no longer need to rely on slow image hosting services.
Is there demand/interest in this?

Re: Q: SpringInfo Screenshot Sharing
The question is: What is the purpose?
Who should upload images, who should look at them.
1) To allow players to share funny screenshots?
"My epic base from last game, 5 nuke silos"
"Look at this funny drawing on map."
(Similiar to threads such as
http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/1784?th ... 784&page=0 )
2) To showcase the engine?
There already is a gallery for that. The new gallery would have to be moderated or else it gets flooded by funny (but not nice looking) pictures of category (1)
3) To showcase game?
Games already have screenshots on their pages. Better to leave it to game makers or else it becomes another thing that eventually gets outdated.
Why would someone want to upload a screenshot "for bug report" to springinfo and not to mantis or forum? The actual bugreport would be in forum anyway.
Whether the screenshot is hosted on springinfo or a random image-share site does not matter.
People would upvote something like this because it makes them laugh the most, but not a good picture to have on engine page etc. So lots of effort to make some gallery with voting system and whatnot, but in the end it would still have to be moderated or sorted by hand...

Think better is current way where anyone make a thread with screenshots and if people agree, they get added to gallery. The most voted of all time could then be pulled into the media page on this site alongside those selected.

Re: Q: SpringInfo Screenshot Sharing
Perhaps tagging as humour would be a solution to that

Afaik, its been gone for a few years, and although I occasionally here mumblings about it coming back I've not seen it.I thought we had a springquotes?
Humour & showcasing gfx. And the second point is not always best left to the game makers! The question is: What is the purpose?
