This is the second one
the first one was Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G back in 2010. Before that there was a manga about something similar.
When I was in japan I got to see the gundam pods at Akihabara but was too shy to try and jump in causing my team to loose(because I would have no idea what I was doing). Those are what they based the anime off. They don't scan in your plamo obviously but whatever. I also did get to go to the gundam front store at Odaiba and have the rx78 kit from it. See the rx78 statue was probably one of the coolest things I have got to see.
I have not watched the second series(the one you linked here) yet. I was put off by the chosen designs. ESP how the guy modded the wing gundam where it has to use a sleigh to fly around on... dumbass kids. Anyway, I might watch it later on, I think it is cool because bandai is releasing tons of plamo based on it but if you want my opinion, there should be more stuff like the zaku2f2000 in GPB!

rather than watch the anime, I was playing this shit out of this: Gundam Breaker, which is a game where you can kitbash together mechs out of various parts and battle with them
Either way, if the anime introduces more young people to gunpla, I am super cool with it!

since i am wide awake thanks to my 10 hour headache, I watched 2 episodes. By the second episode I really liked what I saw. Even though the kid chose a build strike.
more important news at the end of it there is talk about this: "the all gundam build project," I really like this idea, they are going to standardize parts. So part swapping is easier, sweet! This might mean whatever I build in my gundam breaker game I could build IRL!

Hmm, so you think this series is worth a shot?
The last series I watched was 00, which I thought was pretty good for a "neo" Gundam series, much better than SEED or SEED DESTINY.

It depends on what you like. For me, I watched ALL tHE GUNDAMS outside of age, which judging by bandai not featuring it in games seems to be one they are disowning.
I really liked the more serious 08thms and 0083 ovas. I enjoy the series because I see tons of great suits get featured and neat spins on old suits I love. So it is fun for me in that aspect. The combat animations are pretty good and whoever animated the gyan fight knows UC because that is pretty damn close to how a gyan would move and fight. The animators/techniques back then didn't have the chops for it. Well that am M'quve is a terrible pilot

Watching Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G (Just finished Part B right now)... Entertaining... I love that Schauer rides a horse... I don't like the gender coding but what-cha-gonna do? It's got a little bit of that terribad heart-of-the-cards vibe to it too. "Only modify your gundam with Bandai approved parts kids!"

genshiken was about the otaku lifestyle... that was only a small part of the focus. I didn't watch NHK so don't know but probably the same.

In the latest episode there is a reference to opperation "time stop" which is the name of an episode "time, be still" -english translation. Where the gundam has little explosives planted on it's body.
One of the many cool guerrilla fighter moments in mobile suit gundam. Yeah, they actually have stuff like infantry attacking the mobile suits etc in gundam. They don't do it often though, I suspect people didn't want to see the hero mercilessly crush infantry. In 08thms team, another guerrilla team is faced with a single zaku and they are wiped out by it's AP defenses.
