I have the Portable Spring version installed on Windows 7 64bit. SpringLobby is the standard included lobby with this package. The other day I needed to test something with SpringLobby so I joined a game with it. Now I noticed that it created 2 folders in Users\username\AppData\Roaming.
\SpringLobby
\springlobby_updater
The first contains:
\cache
\chatlog
I use Portable because I dislike programs spreading dirs and files over my drive. Apparently SpringLobby, as part of the portable package, still does this. I'd suggest either removing SL from the portable package or making it really portable. Or put a "NOT REALLY PORTABLE"-tag behind the download..
SpringLobby shipped with Spring Portable isn't Portable

yeah, its bad that springlobby writes files there (clearly a bug!), but completely removing springlobby wouldn't help, as it would make the portable archive mostly useless.I'd suggest either removing SL from the portable package or making it really portable.

if you want a "plain" portable archive use the minimal-portable archive.

I didn't know there was a minimal portable archive, it isnt on the springrts.com Download page nor in the 95 download links list. Got a link?abma wrote:yeah, its bad that springlobby writes files there (clearly a bug!), but completely removing springlobby wouldn't help, as it would make the portable archive mostly useless.I'd suggest either removing SL from the portable package or making it really portable.

If SL would be removed could just put a 'lobby-picker' (compare to the annoying windows program after the court decided that shipping IE with windows was unfair) in the package.

i would it do vice-versa: make the "spring engine installer" something like a sdk and let games download directly a lobby which automaticly can download the engine.klapmongool wrote:If SL would be removed could just put a 'lobby-picker' (compare to the annoying windows program after the court decided that shipping IE with windows was unfair) in the package.

Also when downloading a map, the lobby saves it to
Should I explain what happens to SSD when we must move them to Spring Portable map dir?
Code: Select all
C:\Users\topsecretusername\Documents\my games\Spring\maps
