ipconfig /renew if you get an error message that sais "an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket" then
netsh winsock reset catalog then reboot your computer.
As far as linux goes:

There is a port for linux that doesn't have networking yet, and it will work in wine.

Yesterday a friend and me tested the ported code in a network game. I was running 32 bit windows XP, he was running 64 bit linux, and we could chat :) Chances are that if you compile under the same GCC version with the same CPU, you can play spring on a LAN with two linux PCs fine.

The next step is a sync recovery system, but I can't really tell how long that will take...

And how far from working is the linux branch on windows?
Cause if it work on windows, you can use it for release. Even if it don't work on linux, it's not important for now.

I may try that in windows later but chances are it won't work if it does i love you. Ive tried renewing it in other ways, resetting the router etc but it only still seems to work in linux...ill try that in a bit, thanks!

And so i take it the linux port only currently supports chatting?

I tried in wine on suse ealier but it was probably an older wine, now on fedora core 4 ill try again with wine a bit later, thanks :)

If you nee dme to test any linux stuff send me a PM :)

So how close are we to re-integrating the "Pure"(read non-Microsoft proprietary stuff) fork back into CVS then?

Apparently expect a single windows onyl release from the widnows CVS then after that work is focused on the BerliOS SVN which is what the linux people are working on. Changes have been brought forward to the SVN from the CVS anyways.

If you like to know what's posible with Spring on Linux..
Aasmund Grammeltvedt mailed this to us:

"Hi everyone.

I just wanted to share this[1] with you. After all, it wouldn't have been possible without the linux port of Spring. :)

So, now, the linux branch will be used for release?
How can we compile it under Windows? (I didn't have fully understand the SCons thingy).
Or could it be possible to have a Dev-Cpp project file?
